But Ray... what about all those other misspellings. If I correct them, and I will enter the reg numbers, you have to promise that from now on, you will enter dogs names EXACTLY as they are spelled on the pedigree

Fair enough
I'll check back tomorrow then and correct those that you did not enter and I'll fix them. If you have trouble changing the names, try entering the reg number and then change the name.

Here is a suggestion. Looks like the NKC number is the year of birth/registration followed by a dash then 9 digits. How about we have members enter the year of birth/registration then only the first 7 numbers. leaving off the last 2 numbers (instead use ??) like NKC 09/1234567??.
That way someone has to know most of the number and we could verify that ( you can not make up a fake 7 digit number). but not knowing the last 2 numbers, a con artist could not register their dog as being produced by one of these dogs.
Sort of like when the bank or someone asks for the last 4 digits of you SS number. It's a verification, but yet not the whole number.
I have to run this by the rest of the Admins, but I think it would work. What are your thoughts?

If you need help with this breed, ask me and I will try to help you. There is no agreement among American Bulldog members except that you do not want to follow PDB rules of entering the date of birth and registration number. Per the rules listed below, Animals that don't have this information may be marked as no proof of registration or deleted.

Members are not supposed to send us anything unless we request it. We do not maintain a separate registry for any breed. PDB is for members to enter information about dogs and the moderators are here to help, add information and verify if possible, information. There are less than 10 moderators for the 249 breeds of dogs on PDB so we obviously can not look at every dog that is entered and some breeds get less attention than others because there is no moderator who is experienced with the breed.
Pedigree listings are entered by the members, so why would the UKC,NKC,ABRA,USHBR be on our back about fake dogs/puppies being registered with their registries
When you register with PDB you agree to follow it's rules. The ones pertaining to entering a puppy/dog are in my previous post. They state that all breeds must enter a full registration number, yet I was willing to try to get the other Admins to allow a partial number for American Bulldogs because "you don't feel safe entering the full number". I sent you several suggestions for entering registration numbers, but you always tried to modify them to enter less of a registration number. Therefore there are no exceptions to the rules.
The following is excerpted from the Terms of Service at the bottom of page: The moderators have sole discretion in making decisions to edit, or remove comments or inaccurate information from dog pedigrees.

I may be naive, but for me one registration number means one dog.
I guess everybody who wants to cheat is able to find reg numbers ( breed clubs, web sites, ads, and so on).
I don't see the problem on this board but in the single breed clubs that are (or at least should be) responsible for any registration. There is no way to check for truth? They don't ask for proof? Too bad...They should do better...
A reg number combined with date of birth should be the minimum for registering in a PEDIGREE database, and after all nobody is forced to register a dog on this board...
Forgot to say..
Fantom, don't let people make their own rules. Purebred dogs do have a reg no, no reason to hide it.
