I say long stock coat.

As far as the difference between long coat and long stock coat, the main difference is the long coat does NOT have an undercoat and the long stock coat does have an undercoat.  Typically the hair of the long coat is silkier and lays closer to the body and many times has a part down it's back. Whether long coat or long stock coat, there are still many variations of each. Either one may or may not have tufts and/or feathers. The coat length on both can vary a lot too.

I have a long stock coat and although she is is not real fluffy and wooly, she definitely has a longer and slightlier fluffier coat than the average GSD. She also has ear tufts and feet feathers (and an undercoat). My friend has a LSC that looks like a wooly bear, but has no ear tufts or feet feathers. I personally have never seen a true long coat- one that lack an undercoat. The SV is going to have their work cut out for them, deciding what qualifies a dog to be shown in the long stock coat class, BUT one thing that is clear is that the true long coats, those without undercoats, will NOT be able to be shown as lack of undercoat is clearly a fault.

All of that said, many people call all the GSDs with long hair, whether they have an undercoat or not, a long coat, me included. I'm sure no one above who said "long coat" meant to imply this pup is faulty and doesn't have an undercoat.

I know nothing about showlines... But that pup has great feet!
I would also like to know what kind of green stuff that is.... Looks like some kind of Ivy. It would be great on my awning.

Its definitely a long stock coat, but one that could certainly be shown now in a LC category, as the type and structure look very nice.

I would also say long stockcoat. At 10-11 weeks they don't always have the ear feathers, and some true longcoats never get the feathering. One of mine did two did not. They blow their puppy coat and sometimes what we think will be a LC ends up being more plush or stockcoat....There is so much variation. Either way I think he is beautiful....great mask.

Starrchar.....your dog is gorgeous also! I tend to favor the coats....
