Does she have black toes? Tarheels? That would really decide it. But she really looks like the pic you posted.

Liesjers Can you put a Bi Colored dog up from where you got the Melanistic black/tan so Yogiebear can see the diffrent and some others too , I think she is a Blanket Blk/red

by B.Andersen on 24 May 2010 - 23:05

Black and red

This is the bi-color

As for black and red vs. black and tan, genetically I think they are the same.  However a black and tan (which includes blankets, black and red, black and cream or silver....) are genetically different from bi-color, black, or sable.

She has no tar heels and strips on her toes - melanistic blanket  - even though the description sounds different that she really is - I have been thinking she wansnt a bicolor -  and the description does hit it more on the head - w/ blk and red..

What were you thinking she was?

I do believe the red at the base of the ears would be another clue that it's not a bi-color, along with no tar heels or penciled toes.

Very richly pigmented melanistic black & tan (red) often referred to as blanket backs.  Your's has more than the usual black and the blanket drops farther down.  Very nice.  You wouldn't have that cream colored inner thigh with a bi-color either.

She is the same color as my pup, I think.  Not a bi color, but a blanket black and red.  I love the color.
