It always warms my heart and brings a smile while I nod my head when I hear stories like this. I never met you, ikely never will, but you sure made my evening better.

And don't worry about naysayers. There are people like that in all walks of life, all kinds of work, not just Schutzhund.

There was a guy back home... a long time ago that wanted to buy a green dog... The guy is an inflated ego "expert" and he went to look at the dog (the dog was nice, but quirky, he required somebody who understands and respects his uniqueness).

The dog is crap.
he has no drive whatsoever.
he wil never amount ot a hill of beans.
There is no way this dog can be titled... etc...

If he would have just passed on the dog, no harm, no fault, you passed, life moves on. But he had to overdo his nay saying, rubbing it in etc...

The dog was purchased byu a patient, dedicated guy, who appreciated the dog and adjusted his style of training to suit them both.

Fast forward a couple of years into the future, the naysayer bought a fancy dog from Germany and they entered the same trial as the guy who got the first dog, with many people in attendance who remembered his "evaluation" of the first dog.

The dog and his hander just demolished everybody, all scores in high 90s, while the other dog got mediocre scores.

Naysayers, as usual get al kinds of excuses, this and that, but that sure was one lesson in humility...

With all that said - congratulations. Winners never quit, and at a ripe old age of 9 - she has a scoreboo to prove, in addition to your support that she is indeed a winner and so are you.

Way to go.

Warm Congrats on both dogs and yourself, it is great to here folk working hard getting titles on there dogs instead of buying the finished article, and the Pic's are great too, seems to be the season for getting titles congrats to all who have done it this year

Thank you all for your kind words.   It will be hard to retire Berta - we've worked so long together, and she still has a lot of spunk.

Daphne:

Congratulations to you and Berta.  What an inspiration to the rest of us newbies.  I enjoyed watching  the trial and am glad I got to see Berta acheive her 3. Great weather, great hosts, great judge and great competition.

Kathy:

Thank you!  I was soooo nervous, especially when she started out like she was tracking.  I thought I was going to pass out until she popped her head up finally and looked at me like - oh, I get it, it is time to heel.  I was so relieved after her long down and it was over.  Now if I could only get her dumbell work solid I could torture myself all over again, lol.
