personally, for the money spent on the higher quality foods, I can feed raw alot cheaper. my dogs have been getting 1/2 raw and 1/2 purina foods for the past year and are doing wonderful. I don't believe in all the supplements that are promoted for raw diets either. meat, fat, and bone should be sufficeint. dogs wouldn't be getting kelp extract in the wild now would they?

I rotate through all three flavors.
I've had no problems whatsoever with it.
No gas, coats are good.
Several cats eat it the TOW for cats.

Gas, diarrhea, and poor condition are common problems with the tutti-fruiti dog foods--the ones with vegetables and/or fruits added because, gosh, they're good for people so they must be good for dogs. Some dogs can eat almost anything and do well. But many dogs just cannot digest fruits and vegetables well. (It's interesting that wolves have been seen shaking out the stomach contents of their prey to avoid eating vegetables.) These dogs often do very well on a decent-quality food like Iams, Eukanuba, or Royal Canin. The only opinion that matters here is your dog's opinion. If your dog is doing great on a dog food with corn, never mind the "corn-is-evil" crowd. (I still haven't figured out why corn is supposed to be evil but potatoes are a gift from God.) Your dog's good condition is the only argument you need in favor of the food you're using.

Back when I was a kid, I tried to be a vegetarian, my friends were doing it and raved about how well they felt, how much energy….I tried and it was terrible. By the second year, my hair was dull and brittle, skin was flakey, lost a quarter of my body weight, no energy, would stand up too quickly and pass out…It was very careful to do everything by the book, combining proteins and all the rest…..I finally gave it up and have been great ever since.
I have a friend who cannot eat meat, it makes her sick. Another friend that cannot eat dried beans, others who are lactose intollerent.
The point I’m getting at is that like humans, what a dog can digest varies per animal.
Shop around and find what is best for your dog. Some eat raw with out problems; some do very well with barley, rice, corn…experiment and come up with a solution that works Then don’t let anyone who doesn’t know you or your dog talk you into something that might not be right for your situation.

a while back our food store owner told us she would no longer carry TOTW being that they had done away with their outside qaulity control checks, they didn't see it as neccisary any longer ! so we have since switched to fromm and my dogs are doing good on it.
