Where can i get a spenger brand collar? I'm not familiar with that name? Yeah, i got the collar i research how to use it and and reviewed diagrams how it is placed. My issue with my dobie was at least for that day at petsmart...she kept lodging out at people and their dogs thinking its a dog park (play time). I mean this dog is non stop energy when it comes to meeting other dogs. Well, when i was talking to the two managers she just kept lodging, jumping, pulling toward dogs and people walking in and out of the store. I said this is exactly why i need a new collar because she doesn't relax and focus on me when giving commands. I wanted an exchange for a new small one since the one i had links were all loose and keep coming off. Then i got the whole lecture about prongs and abuse. I guess what took the cake is them talking so loud and using the word ABUSE and not properly fitting the collar.

I'm over it now thanks to the advice i got on this forum. I didn't do anything wrong...i  knew i didn't do anything wrong just need reinsurance. Actually, I was trying to explain to them that this is what i was told and have research how the collars are used....and they too much didn't want to hear it. I guess every person has their own methods on training.
She wanted to direct me to a different collar to use not prong...lmao

I won't keep boring you guys with this topic....but they made my day last night. I was HOT

I think I would have suggested several books off their own shelves that depict the proper fit of a prong collar.  I know they sell the Vollhard book that has a great picture so they wouldn't have to read the words.  In fact, if I were you, I would call someone and complain about the mis-information you recieved and let them know you'll be sharing your expirience with everyone you meet at your club and dog shows.  I owned a retail store for 12 years and the #1 NO NO in my store was mis-information. If my staff didn't know the answer to a question they had better look it up or find it from a reliable source. If they got caught making stuff up they were GONE.  Don't take crap from morons!!!

Thanx Sheri good advice. A friend of mine and i  plan to go back there together and do obedience training with my dog.  I think she want to bring up the topic to those two anyways when we go. Kinda feel iffy going there and having the prong collar up with less link ...i don't want them to call animal control. Anyhow my friend said they can't do that anyways. So we will see how it goes when we do some training in the store. At least my dog need to relax when other dogs are around, first and foremost.

RDH, are you NUTS? Take your dog elsewhere to train and socialize with other dogs. Why bring trouble? And that is just what you are asking for by going back there, and especially by taking in your dog. Surely there are other venues you can work in........

Herm Sprenger makes the best collars - I've never had a problem with them. They are made in Germany, and very sturdy. A number of places on the Internet sell them - I get mine from www.rayallen.com

It's a company located in Colorado Springs CO - excellent fast shipping and customer service.

If you google Herm Sprenger collar, you will find many internet vendors that carry them.  Here is another company for example:  http://www.dogsportgear.com/prong_collars.htm

RDH Honey ........... I suggested that you call and complain .......... NOT spend more money there and possibly mess up your dog.  I think a few people have commented on the OB instructors there.   I'm sure there are much better places for you to go.  I too have witnessed the level of expertice at department store OB classes ......... it's pretty scary.

RDH, I can also sell you a Herm Springer fur saver. What size do you need? But there are many people in the US who sell them. Ray Allen is a rip off.
