Beautiful horses you have Lynn.   I'm a nut for Friesians.  Can I put Vincent in lay-away?

PDB is a lunatic asylum sometimes, but probably less so than some of the old news groups were. Some of those were contact sports.  This place is like anywhere, some knowledgable folks, some blowhards, some who hardly ever post but are worth reading when they do, and yes, some fights and bad language. Lurk for a while and you get to know who is who.  Post genuine questions and someone will be sure to give you a great answer but it's up to you to sort out the quality. Welcome aboard.

welcome and yes it is like this most times.............. I usually just check in and the sort through what I want to look at and ignore the rest.

A kinder, more gentle forum is http://shepherdcentral.com/index.php i go there more as they tend to do less ripping and shredding of the flesh.............

 You have some beautiful horses.........

Take care,

Cindy

I had the exact same thoughts when I first became familiar with the board. I have sometimes wondered if the interaction between participants is a case where they tend to confuse their role with how the behave with their dogs in terms of wanting to be the alpha in the relationship.

But frankly, I find people to be very knowledgeable and so I just ignore a lot of the crap and focus on the more constructive contributions of participants. When I have sought advice, most are very helpful and constructive and a few are less than helpful in terms of their suggestions - I just ignore the latter.

I think Lynn just posted to sell us some of those beautiful ponies....

but really, this board is alot like a family- Most of the time thing go smooth then drunk uncle or aunt (...fill in the blank...) shows up and starts peeing on the TV and causing a ruckus.  Tempers flare, names are called and things can just get down right wacky but if you can put your blinders on and skip over the doo-dah this is really a fun & informative place.

This board is generally marked by the presence of knowledgeable and polite people. I would like to think that the vast majority of the people who post and visit here are this type of person.

The board has been quite x-rated (in terms of coarse and abusive language) at times in years past, and there has been much namecalling and a bit of libel presented here. I may add that false accusations occassionally appear.

Are there people who come here to compete for the title of Drama Queen? Yes there are. Are there those who are very envious of other people's dogs and accomplishments and need to attack the source of their envy? Yes there are. Are there those who feel they have to stir up crap just to watch what happens? Yes there are. Are there some people who seriously need the s**t slapped out of them? There sure are.

Our board has gathered much off-topic content due to the political and civil unrest in the U.S.A.. And I have posted comments on a few of those posts myself. Fortunately most of the off-topic posts are marked as such and one can choose whether to read them.I think one can look onthe messagelist and see who began a post in order to determine if its contents are something really worth reading.

I think of myself as being reasonably tolerant, but certain things do bother me when I see them here; things such as: unwarranted attacks and accusations as well as much verbal abuse and foul language. The language used is actually the lesser problem for me as I tend to have a foul mouth in certain circumstances and I am not very sensitive about it. But, enough about me.

Please use the pedigree database board for the reason it was created by Olafur Tryggvason; and that was to celebrate and discuss the German Shepherd Dog breed. In good time you can quickly sift through the content and determine who are the troublemakers and the trolls, and realize that some play both parts.

Oh, and welcome to the Pedigree Database messageboard!

Best Regards,

Bob-O

THE SUPPORT and KNOWLEDGE YOU CAN GET HERE IS AWESOME. When it comes to a dog in trouble or sick even the ones that are witching pitch in. WELCOME.

I've gotten a lot of valuable information from these threads, and have had many a laugh.  That said, if you're willing to sift through the OT stuff, you can learn a lot.

BTW, you've got some of the most beautiful horses on the planet.  Not a bad mover in the bunch.  If you've got that good an eye for horseflesh, dog structure will come pretty easily to you.

Chicki, wellcome to the PDB Messageboard !

I guess what threw you of a little was the thread you posted regarding our dear Brittany. As much as I try to stay civilized, this girl can definately get the nasty side out of someone ! Neverless, I agree with you ........ it would be much nicer if we all could get along !

One thing I like to mention is, there are many Europeans on this board, me beeing one of them. At times their post might sound like they are offensive, when they are not meant to be. This is because of their limited english, so maybe you want to give them a little slag.

Generally, most of the peopel I got in contact with, were very nice and on my last Vacation I even got to meet some. Bob-O, Chris (Sunsilver), just to name 2, have a wealth of knowledge about our breed and are kind enough to share this knowledge with us. For this I am thankfull, for the drama part I am not.

Anyway, wellcome to the PDB and I wish all of you a merry X-Mas season !

HoHoHo  Ulli
