They way I see it, for every puppy taken home by some bleeding heart that wants to "save" it, it will simply be replaced by another one. I'll be damned if I give that industry a penny of my money, ever.

Petland is a big puppy seller out here, this pup was at "Puppy World", the same company that had a radio spot over christmas that said "Everyone wants a puppy for Christmas! Come to Puppy World!"  Makes me want to vomit. I went into the local petland once and counted 28 puppies, sitting in white plastic cubicles with a grate on the bottom for waste and a clear plexi front so anyone can harass, I mean see, the dogs. I will never go in again.

The disgusting part is, I couldn't sell my purebred puppies, form SchH titled, well rated parents with full guarantees, for what a pet store can sell a dog for. They have in-store financing now, "Own this puppy for only $27.32 a month!" I just saw a gsd somebody picked up for $1600 at a pet store. My friend called me to tell about a BULLMATION, yes, english bulldog/dalmation for $1200.  And some ignorant dipstick will buy it, too.

Agar, I'm sure that those who don't get sold are put to sleep (or get sent to the humane society) for obvious reasons..

Congratulations KC... some might not agree with what you did but I think you did the right thing ;)

KC-  A bullmation??? lol  OMG I thought I heard it all.  My friend and I were talking about all these crazy  breeds people are putting together and selling for big bucks when it's a glorified mutt.  She has a Great Dane and we said if we put her female Dane with my male GSD we could call them German Danes and charge $2000.....lol  And you know something, a lot of people would probably feed into that it's a "new breed".  Amazing, truly amazing....a bullmation....I'm still shaking my head.

Try this again...

We have the same issue here in SW Missouri now. Our local "Pet Warehouse" now sells puppies in those same plastic
cubicles.

I went up and made a stink about it. I said don't you people realize we are already the "puppy-mill" state. I said where do your puppies come from a puppy mill.

They said no, we would never support a puppy mill we get ours from Andrew Hunte. My husband had to grab my arm and  lead me out before I went off on them.

Sad Isn't it?

Birdy...

Birdy-  At least you got an answer to your question.  An old friend of mine years and years ago bought a dog from a pet shop on a whim like most people do; big shocker the pup wound up having some health issues, when she tried to take the dog back after a few weeks the pet shop told her "too bad, no return, no refund".  At that point she requested the breeders information since the vet had told her it's best to contact the breeder to let you know if there were any other pups from the litter who may have had the same problem or if this was a genetic issue.  This was the pet store's response...we do not know where the puppy came from or have any information on the background of the dog other than what will be written on your paperwork when you get it.  She was puzzled with this answer and clearly took this as they were trying to hide something so she pressed harder for an explaination as to how they could not know where the dog came from....they said because pups get purchased from a "buyer" that works for the corporate office of the pet shop chain, they set up the buys, make the arrangements on shipping dogs and what store gets what breeds and sometimes stores will trade off pups if someone has an interest in a particular breed that they don't have in their store.  After several conversations with higher ups she was able to research through pieces of what they shared and then the paperwork that came in shortly after; she discovered the dog came from a well known puppy mill not far from where we lived.  She never bought from a pet store ever again.
