To have influence the committee would need to be a blend of breed and working to bring genuine balance to the thought process and to include people who have moved from breed to working and still have a genuine interest in the BREED Thes are not to difficult to find C Bows R James R White names that spring to mind and i am sure there are others,
Just needs someone to pick this up and run with it
One thing id SURE our present partnership MUST do something positive here and quickly
I give an example
TOP SV breed judge comes over to judge (dont now there names anymore) he makes his line up and KC rep comes into the ring and says sorry you cant do that the dog at the back looks more like this picture, it will not change the result on the day but when he goees back to Germany, how many more SV judges will visit!

This is a typical working line dog in in a show stance, though overstretched.

Is the modern showline dog really an improvement on this and if you think so, in what way are they "more" to the standard?.

Many years ago the SV stopped all publication in any magazines of which they had a connection photos of American GSD`s which were overstretched long in proportions with excessive hindquarters. I see no reason why when thay see the Photo and the standard being put forward by the UK Kennel Club it will only be a matter of time before some action is taken here with regards allowing judges to the UK . The photo which was discussed on the 20th of November 2008 at a meeting with the KC and still remains on their site is a clear indication of any response we are going to get when discussing the way forward. That picture should be removed with immediate effect and replaced with a dog the KC gives credit to with their own awards ie CC`s and replaced with the breed record holder Ch Gayvilles Nilo. This shows no favour to this particular dog apart from the fact the KC under their rules conditions and the standard they accepted allowed this dog to hold this honour. When you think of all the good that can be achieved by enforcing and making health requirements a part of the registration system and all we are doing is messing with the standard I sometimes give up!!!

I am informed that the Kennel Club, at the meeting with "The GSD Partnership" on the 29th November 2008, gave "The GSD Partnership" until the 30th March 2009 to get back to them in respect of the BREED STANDARD. This being the case, we must ensure that our very strong feeling and the potentially serious consequences of the Kennel Clubs "proposed" changes to our GSD Breed Standard, are communicated to The Kennel Club in the most comprehensive manner, including, I hope, a strongly worded comment from the German SV.
We must all be patient and determined, and we must offer our fullest support to "The GSD Partnership". Some may believe they are not up to the task, I simply believe they are our best hope, and "The GSD Partnership" consists of all the ingredients that we need for our breeds protection and future progress. No organisation is perfect, however I do believe "The GSD Partnership" can and will deliver what is realistically achievable under present circumstances. We should all give them our fullest support, and the opportunity and the time to pursue the numerous major issues currently prevailent in our breed. Patience and determination will be our most important strengths; along with our united support, I am sure considerable progress can be made.
