You making fun at my TRUNK MONKEY???? I'll have him bite your ass too after he's done with Speaknow.

Pat, I invoke my 5th Amendment Right to the Constitution of The United States of America in view of the fact that I could become the next victim of PETA. I don't get "road rage". I get TRUNK MONKEY.

It would be real nioce to save all the negative stuff for the bar or whereever it is that losers cry over their loses. This thread started off nice. Let's help it stay nice. How about offering help to Carlos. This is no easy endeavor. Carlos can use help.

You generous comments are appreciated, Carlos. I seem to recall various articles penned by you in the past, all of them worthwhile. Neither are any of my remarks meant to target you in any personal way - it's the underlying concept I question. My, my, what furore and unanticipated angst! Not to mention the desperate resort to personalised attacks, vocabulary included! Clearly I pooped on someone’s parade. And here’s silly me thinking I’d only highlighted the obvious. ListenNow seems to have joined solely in order to dish it out to me - either that or simply assumed a new moniker for the occasion. My problem doesn’t lie per se with Carlos anyhow. Heck I’ve always respected the man, from afar anyways. No, my objection lies with the general notion of well-funded individuals conjuring up their own novelty shows, and as completely distanced from any accepted mutally agreed-upon regulatory framework, including that as provided under existing protective umbrella of member club rules; schutzhund ones or otherwise. We’re obviously at odds here and fair enough too, but would such a lone entrepreneur not issue whatever soothing statements or mock-guarantees as furthered his own event’s chances of success? Removed from any formal club strictures would any participant, or paying audience for that matter, have the slightest inkling of what machination went on behind the scenes? And within this landscape, other than for initiator’s promises, where’s there any hint of proper accountability on various counts? By the way, schutzhund in particular of course, I’m well aware such shows occurred previous. And hey, am I not entitled to express my views like anyone else? No need to agree with me whatsoever. It’s a free world and Carlos is entitled to conceive any show in whatever format he likes. Moreover, it’s very doubtful my humble words will make the slightest difference as to what eventuates. Tongue in cheek, I’ll add some sort of further reply. KYLE thus asks: “Is this the problem, you can't get to the judge to grease his palm so you get the win? ....or is it because you cut your teeth in show dogs and can't find one to compete with at a national level.” Alas, I bestowed gifts far more valuable than the judge was worth but it seems another got there before me! Sadly I’ve only got one life and club competitions already take up more time than I care to admit. Was it she who also said: “This Masters event can get positive media attention for our GSD. Everyone is bitching about legislation of our dogs. What better way than to have the elite in our sport display them head to head?”. Oh, I’m sure the legislators love nothing better than schutzhund, Kyle – they truly adore the man-work elements to bits! Bestows the average GSD owner with such a great image!

Tangogsd offered his kind remarks and compares Carlos’s event with other world or formal national events. Well, dream-on boy! Still, in America… Offer enough money, tangogsd, and you’ll always have competitors of one sort or another – it simply isn’t the point. Pat is clearly the most mesmerised by vocabulary, as well as once apparently attending some toffee-nosed school. Seemingly she’s also the only one with enough nouse who to address points raised. And first states: “I ask what is so fundamentally wrong with offering a cash prize in an event such as this. These participants are, indeed, some of the top people and dogs in the sport today. Is it really so immoral that these folks are compensated for not only their ability, but also for their service to the sport and breed itself?” You don’t feel that marrying unfettered, uncontrolled individual private enterprise to cash purses is a heady recipe, one wide open to various sorts of future abuse? Can’t really see how morality enters the picture. Then, I was under the impression that competition in our sport was about grading or proving the quality of individual animals, as well as improving the breed in general – with success therein supposedly bringing its own kudos and personal reward. Well, its always worked that way for me anyhow. What necessity then to reduce this great activity to just another grubby profit-making exercise? Besides, personally I’m more than satisfied with the cash received from pup sales. And asks: “Does the fact that Tiger Woods receives millions of dollars for hitting a ball into a hole with a stick corrupt the millions who do this every Sunday?” As far as Woods is concerned, not to mention his corporate sponsors, he’s earning a living, running a business. It’s only the amateur golfers and television viewers who characterise this activity as ‘sport’. Is this what we want for our ‘hobby’? You’d agree it’s certainly a new (newish?) direction, one at least worthy of comment? And: “I fail to see how this event circumvents the SV or any other Schutzhund organization. Carlos makes no claimes that this is a "sactioned" event.” As noted, it clearly functions wholly operates outside of any mutually agreed regulating framework (whereas exploiting the formal standings or official gradings gotten within the official club fabric to begin with – from those same folk who you feel should be rewarded “for not only their ability, but also for their service to the sport and breed itself”?), with each private entrepreneur in effect simply creating his own. This has gotten again far too long. Still, who’d not be deeply touched by the emotional response displayed by ListenNow, and his obvious deep devotion to all things Carlos. Currently I’m blessed by one special little bitch which, at the oddest times at that, stares at me so adoringly that she unfailingly evokes similar response. For these in need of dictionaries, may I suggest nightschool?

Speaknow.... or whomever

I think you are mesmerised with you own words. No where did I compare (or contrast) Mr. Rojas's event to another.  I mentioned there is a precedent (need I define?) in Europe.  It sounds like you do not know of them.

Very black and white.   If you do not agree, do not read about or do not support the event. Create your own event, with your own critera and prize calculation, if any.  Put your neck out on the line, create your own and let people comment as well.

I think it is funny and sad that there is such angst on the board about who is invited (again, ask your friends if there were, if it is your business) and what the "criteria" is.

Question points have been addressed.  The problem is that the people complaining do not like the answer. Or do not read and comprehend the answer.......

So, again, hold your own event. Do not worry about this one, because you obviously were not part of the group that Mr. Rojas invited.

I like the reference to the "greased judge" being offereds something else by someone who finished ahead of Sleaknow. So, what was the problem, Speaknow, did he/she offer a "Monika Lewinski," instead of money? LOL if you think that there isn't more covert ";reasing" of judges at shows, in contrast to outright cash prizs at this event, you have fallen down your thesaurus rabbit-hole. So, now you have, repeatedly, stated your opinion about the pitfalls of Carlos's events. Must you exercise your First Amendment right ad nauseum (ours)? :-) Why not just sit back and wait? If this turns into a debacle, you can chant "I told you so." If only the third stringers (whoever that may be, if they have competed at World competitions), then those whiners can point and chant about that. I have a productive suggestion: any interest in a few people here contributing to sponsor a trophy at the event in Oli's name?

Who is Oli and what are his or hers contributions to the sport of Schutzhund?

by Betty on 06 February 2008 - 16:02

I think the event is a wonderful idea and looking at some of the competitors that have agreed to participate I'm not alone in that opinion!

It is a private event, funded privately and I'm not sure why everyone is so up in arms.  If you don't agree with it, don't participate.  I think Carlos has been more then kind trying to answer questions that he really doesn't have to.

Maybe we are so use to having events dictated by USA, DVG, WDA, the SV that we can no longer think outside the box?  It is our sport, maybe it's time to take a little bit of it back.

I do have one bone to pick with you Carlos, Florida would be a much nicer venue and so much closer to me!

It's kind of nice to see the limelight put on the handlers too.

Speaknow does not know when to "speakless". You're comments are not appreciated or wanted amoungst us workingline people. You need to go back to the thread concerning SV rules on height. That seems where you emerged onto this website from. You need to speak in plain unadulterated simple English for us hardworking, hard training Schutzhund people to understand your bullshit. You see, we are simple people driven by what we know is rightous. We know AND, you know that more than half showline dogs do not have the nreves & courage to get a pronounced rating in TSB. The proof is in the pudding. Just look at that Regional Conformation Show DVD that came out of somewhere in the South or Mid-West. The opening of the DVD shows numerous dogs attempting to engage the helper.ATTEMPTING!!! More than half the dogs came off the sleeve.  That's being conservative. I would like to say they all came off the sleeve, but  that may be a little exaggerated. One dog may have had a decent bite. That DVD was shamefull. That is not what a GSD is supposed to be!.The dogs that are shown at this event will be a true example of what the GSD is supposed to be. You can take your pansy ass  fu-fu GSD's and play in the show ring but WHEN was the last time that a VA1 showed at the GSD Nationals? Enlighten me please!

I did not like you equating me to your little bitch as you did in your below post.

Many people here may not be as astute as yourself with the command of the English language but your punctuation sucks. Why do'nt you just speak in simple English that we can all understand. Imagine how hard of a time the Europeans must have trying to understand your advanced vocabulary. I am sure they are wondering who this jerk is that speaks with such educated words that we cannot understand what he is trying to say. I've created a thread just for you and people of like mind. Look for "Workinglines V. Showlines ". You do not belong commenting on what you have no knowledge on. Go spew your allegations of corruption there. This thread is for Schutzhund people. Remember what "Schutzhund" translates into..........Protection Dog. What is your Fu-Fu dog going to protect?

For someone who just joined this website messageboard recently as you stated in your SV height requirements, you need to take a backseat and enjoy the ride or "Get the hell off at the next stop". This thread is to be positive and supportive of the Tournament. If you have nothing good to say, say nothing. Exercise some humility or I will surely beat a little into you. You need to be introduced to some Basic OB. For you, I would give you 5 free lessons. But I do'nt know who would run off the field first. You or your Fu-Fu bitch. I do not have time for this nonsense. My dogs will never get trained if I have to respond to idiots like yourself. Do'nt you have a dog to train? Dog trainers do not need all those complicate words that you use. We just need to know basic words like Sitz, Plotz and Voran.

You and your bitch lack communication. That's why you and her "stare

Listenow:

OLI created , owns and administers this pedigree database and the forums that go along with it.   It is among the largest gsd websites int he world, it not the largest and most used.

And YES, I think a "thank you" to him is in order for everyone using this site.  Of course, those who have slipped their gears and meds will dispute it...on Oli's forum, and not even pick up on the irony.
