Myracle

by Myracle on 30 July 2010 - 20:07

I'm not sure where the Bible suggests that the earth is the center of the universe.
Psalms 19:4-6
yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, which comes forth like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and like a strong man runs his course with joy. Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them; and there is nothing hid from its heat.

In other words, the sun revolves around the earth.
The Bible also repeatedly states the earth is flat.

Are you alleging that the Catholic church DIDN'T imprison Galileo in his own home for claiming the sun was the center of our galaxy?

Nope.  Nor am I Catholic.

Mudwick I would ask that you consider your answers carefully! as a student of the greek language your accusations of misitnerpetation holds no merit with me! As a student of biblical studies and ancient  hebrew custom you are far off the mark! Christs atoning death did not abolish any laws of old or new testament! His death was payment in full of the penalty of the transgression of those laws! You refer to the passage of those ordanances being nailed to the cross! Ancient hebrew customs allowed for a kinsman to redeem one of his family by posting a notice on the door of the gate telling everyone that those penalties or debts have been paid in full by the kinsman redeemer! Those ordanances are still effective only the ultimate price for transgression has been paid! However this is not the venue for a lesson in greek or ancient hebrew customs! Jesus said why call me master and do not do as I say! Also If you love me you will keep my commandments! Now who is dull of sight and hearing? I will allow the scripture speak for itself and invite you to pm if you desire further revelation!

So I take it you don't eat pork or shellfish, don't mix meat and dairy, you believe in slavery, you wear a yarmulka, you wear talitot and tzittzit, you've written your own Torah, you don't drive a car or use any electricity in your home on the Sabbath which you observe from sundown on Friday night until sundown on Saturday night, you don't cut the hair on your temples, you don't own or consume anything containing leaven during Pesach, you have only one variety of plant growing in your yard, every seven years you skip pruning your trees, rape victims should be forced to marry their rapists, not castrating any animal, beating to death disobedient children...

Oh, and of course, you should murder me, as well, if the Old Testament laws still hold true.

You believe all that too?  Christians believe all that?

The Bible is confusing to me, and one  has to take the Old Testament in context with those times.  I sure dont' know it well enough to comment.

So personally, I concentrate on what I know to be true.  I'll ask God about the other stuff when I see Him face to face.

One thing I do know for sure, even though I am not conflicted with attractions to the same sex or have gender issues, I sure have alot to sort out in my own life before I judge anyone else on theirs.

Welcome to the board mudwick, I did recognize you from the Leerburg forum, and always thought your posts were very intelligent, not to mention you have a gorgeous dog!

RFS, you misunderstood (slightly) what I was saying about "haters"; I meant the Raymonds....

I may be wrong.......I'm not exactly a bible banger, but if I remember correctly what I was taught about the bible's view on homosexuality, it's the ACT of it that's immoral, not BEING homosexual. Same as ANY adultery, if you want to get technical.

Red Sable,

I certainly can't take credit for Danke being such a looker... but I'm glad you like her, and I'm glad I manage to sound semi-literate online.  In real life, ADHD can make me... a tad less coherant at times.
