Abhay, he makes me want a black in a purely superficial way. He is spectacular. Hard to tell from the frontal view, but was he built like Chinaman too? Love that sinew. Did you ever breed him?
You're not really old or anything, are you? I'm up to my ears in dogs right now, but when it comes time for a new one, I will be harrassing you for help/contacts/advice. Let me know if I need to make that sooner rather than later, lol.
Last thing I need is another one who likes the nightlife! I had one like that a while back- that Norrod/Corvino dog I mentioned. Had a real thing for the ladies of the evening, if you know what I mean. Came home reeking of bar bathroom cologne and money was always missing from my purse. Could never breed him because Lord knows what he may have been carrying...
Dodie, again, I feel the need to explain what is meant by the words on the page, as alas, it doesn't 'seem' like you understand them. When Abhay asked for tolerance, he certainly didn't mean being tolerant of anyone being killed by a dog! While I hate (there I am, hating again!) to interpret another's writings, I feel quite confident that your interpretation of Abhay's dream of tolerance has zero to do with tolerating people being killed by dogs, and more to do with not bashing things you will never understand. A little "to each his own" would go a long way here, but you keep at it, keep posting and reposting while never pulling your head out of the sand. Really go out and look into dog attacks; as Abhay posted a few pages back, there are plenty to be found without Pit Bulls involved.
Look around and then honestly say you never hear of any other breeds attacking their owner/handler (hmmm, never met a Mal, Dutchie, GSD, or any other dog w/fur and teeth and so called "drive"?) The difference is the competency level of the owner. When a person gets bitten/attacked by their Mal, they blame themselves, have it stitched on the field and go back to work. When a person gets attacked by their Pit, they seek medical attention (simple physics at work here) and are so ignorant as to think the dog suddenly was possessed by demons, when I will all but guarantee you anyone w/half a brain and some dog sense could've seen it coming a mile away. It's like I said in my last post; the breed is in such peril that hardly anyone with any business owning them wants to, and those people who have "real" Pit Bulls are minding their own business and their dogs are not out terrorizing people.
You live in SC, right Dodie? Well, not to be rude, but I've been there (almost moved there, actually) and the demographics of Pit Bull owners is quite interesting, to say the least. For every 10 Pits (or what their white trash, hillbilly owner who doesn't realize Jefferson Davis never did get to be President thinks is a Pit Bull), you see maybe 1 or 2 different breeds in certain areas. It's sheer numbers- a statistics and probability game. You said it yourself- parents took sleeping pills, left a baby alone w/a dog...it's stupidity and ignorance all around. There isn't so much a difference in dogs as there is a difference in the behaviors of those who "manage" them- say, a difference between a dog savvy person who effectively manages their animals and children simultaneously, and a couple of drug addicts who shouldn't be allowed to have children OR dogs. Every day I make conscious decisions regarding my dogs and keeping them safe, and those around them safe. This doesn't mean my dogs are any different than the next guy's dogs (but they might be), but what it does mean is that mine hopefully won't even have the opportunity to make headlines because they are contained a

and managed properly.
I honestly don't know how to write this so you'll understand what I mean; no matter how I put it, you take it as a personal attack and you've missed my point entirely. Classic example of you and I and a complete failure to communicate is this:
I WROTE: (in reference to fallacies about the current fad in "dangerous dogs")When I was a kid, it was Dobermanns that I remember morons warning about their brains swelling and other lunacy. The trend dictates much of what we hear about. The trendiest dogs are the ones going downhill fastest. And I just recently had someone warn me that Caleb was the age when German Shepherds "turn."
DODIE WRITES BACK: What the hell is Caleb when the dog will turn? I guess now you are saying that all dogs will turn. Boy, tha's special
HUH???
Words don't seem effective, so here's a photo of my ticking time bomb I was recently warned about:
.jpg)
You see, people DO say the same ignorant comments about other "dangerous breeds" but GSDs aren't the scumbag trend right now, so the media doesn't hunt down GSD stories and perpetuate public fear.
Good point, Vom M. Exactly what I've been trying to explain.

Jenni -- in each post, you get more insulting. In addition to insulting Dodie for not "comprehending" your posts, you are now insulting the people who live in South Carolina. Geez.............
Give it a rest !!!

I think it's pretty clear what I'm insulting. If you want to think it's the physical state of South Carolina, and try to stir the pot and egg poor Dodie on, then go ahead. Just skip the whole part where I said THE DEMOGRAPHICS OF PIT BULL OWNERS. Have at it. Everyone w/half a brain and some decent comprehension will see it for what it is. I have yet to see you add something worthwhile to a thread. Don't start now!

I'm looking at this Forum in an entirely "new light." It runs the gamut of personalities, values, and sensitivities; it often showcases the "good" and the "dark side" of people.
In addition, it provides information (oftentimes redundant) and "entertainment" .... it could make a great "Sit-Com."

I know of no other way to look at an internet forum.

Jenni, It would depend upon who you ask, on whether I'm real old or not. I think, I'm just coming into my prime, but there are many who would not agree with that assessment.
In regards to these Pits with all the vices, I feel Ya. I hate when I have to be up half the night, wondering when my Pit will come home. Looking at the phone, wondering if it will ring, and be from the Police with bad news.
Then at dawn, to have him come home with a mangy looking Afghan Hound bitch, smelling of doggie Sex, stale Southern Comfort, Old Spice, and a cheap knock off version Britney Spear's CURIOUS. It's just too damn much!!
The thing that really shatters my belief system is, are you serious when you say,, Jefferson Davis never did get to be President ??

I'm sorry, Abhay. It's true. You can put away your rebel flag t-shirt (you know, the one you have that matches your dog's bandana). But it's not so bad....keep your chin up.

Jenni- I really want to hate you but I can't. lol Everytime I see that pic of Caleb it makes me miss my black GSD more. I'm jealous that you have such a beautiful one as they are hard to come by. (ones with nice structure, temperament, drive etc, etc) Although I am glad that a wonderful dog like him is owned by someone that isn't going to screw him up.(he probably would be in the wrong hands) I can't hate you though cause.... well I agree with so much of what you say and you are one of the few on here that have intellegence and is educated in breeds or at least educates themselves if they don't know something. You say it like it is and you aren't a sheep that just follows. I do have to say though that no matter how much you talk to the "wall" (people that just don't get it) the conversation isn't going to go anywhere.
I am glad that there are the few people that do understand that it isn't the breed...it is the idiots that own them that don't have the knowledge. Too bad there isn't a cure for stupid...hmmm well that is legal.lol

Its not the dog, its the owner............if you beat your dog , please do not expect it to sit in grannys lap and it you leave your dog chained to a tree its hole life please to not expect it to play fetch with your grand son timmy.. All dogs have to be socialized very your to stop issues like this.. ITS NOT THE BREED..........Cocker spanials are the most aggreesive dog but the name rarely hits the news papers...Only Big dogs and unfortunitly these victums are apart of the stats of an0ther pitt..
