Once the dogs are in the army, they are the property of the USA, just like a jeep or tank. Its one of the reasons the war dog memorial was created, to help dogs that are allowed to return home and prevent the catastrophe of Vietam, where all the dogs serving at the time of the pull out were left behind, in a nation that actually does eat dogs.
It is sad, but there job it to use in place of a human to preserve the life of its handler or a service man. Same as a Police dog.
It would be nice in this instance to use a camera/robot, guess they cost too much.

in Vietnam, Our Military Killed the K9s, rather than return home after their deployment was served.
Said they were a liability to bring home, I actually think cost was the issue..
If the dogs make it out of IRaq or Afganistan in tact, can anyone confirm IF the dogs are brought home, or are they euthanized like the old days?

They come home and more and more are being adopted out to approved homes instead of dying in a kennel when retired. Much better tthan the days of old.

German Shepherds are here to serve. Let's save the whales and the rare fish, and the seals and the old elephants, and old trees,and kill the babies and the old in rest homes. How many lives have been saved because of these brave serving dogs. So we do all these breeding tests for courage and endurace and fight drive for what ??? We should value our sons and daughters ways more than anything else,not to say we are not valueing our German Shepherds. It's good to believe in things strongly, and fight for thing just find the right cause.
Look up on youtube and see what happens at an abortion ??? Pick your fight.
