This is a very important and interesting topic that covers the subject of the APBT / AB crosses. Many have done this and have produced very good dogs for specific purposes, however the intent of this registry, i believe is to keep an accurate record of pure bred straight American Bulldogs, meaning both parents registered American Bulldogs, which now includes the 7/8 rule. I chose not to put my pit/ab cross on here for that reason. Any dog that doesn't at least meet the 7/8 rule really should not be in this database. Those that meet the 7/8 rule, instead of just leaving it blank, for the sake of transparency, the known APBT should be identified in the notes. That way one could go to that respective registry for more info.

No crosses (outside of known bloodlines of the past - i.e. breeding Belgian Tervuren & Belgian Groenendael since breeding two Groenendael will occasionally result in the birth of a Tervuren) should be allowed on PDB.


*Note: Prior in 1959, the four Belgian Shepherd breeds were considered one breed with four varities.

The Pedigree database is for purebred dogs only no mix or crossbred dogs.
