7 week old "preganant" female. Amazing. You should have concerns.

I'm presuming you mean that she is 7 weeks preganant.

I'm not a genius or without questions, but why do people breed without doing some kind of research?

it could be a UTI, could be nothing serious or could be more serious. I would contact my vet.

If she is 7 weeks, she should be showing or else maybe a very small litter. here are a couple of articles but honestly it's probably best to get her checked out and not rely just on internet info.

also it's always good to know how many pups to expect, an ultrasound can be pretty accurate.

discharge

another one

good luck,

Rik

She seems awful close to 62 days to still be wondering if you are getting "a sign she really is pregnant or something". Sounds as if she might not have been near a vet at all. You should remedy that OP, and not just because she might have some sort of discharge. JMHO

FFS, Entwerfer, like you don't ever commit a typo? Guess you didn't notice that the word was spelled correctly in the body of the post...a nice snarky welcome to PDB. Some things never change.

gemthegsd, hopefully you're certain that your female is actually pregnant--for future reference, you can have your vet do an ultrasound, or run a blood test, 30 days after the female is bred to determine whether she's conceived or not. By 7 weeks after the breeding took place, a pregnancy is evident to the naked eye in most females, although with very small litters or very overweight females the changes in her body can sometimes be missed.

If you haven't had your female to your vet to have the pregnancy confirmed, it would be wise to do so now, as it sounds like you're quite inexperienced right now and may need your vet's help if your dog is carrying pups.

The other reason to have her checked right now is to make certain that the discharge you saw isn't related to a uterine infection as opposed to a pregnancy, as such an infection can be fatal if not treated quickly enough. These infections, known as a pyometra, can occur anytime during the two months after the female's heat has ended, whether she was mated or not, and it is something that a breeder must watch for because if it happens, it is an emergency that needs to be addressed immediately. In some instances, there is no discharge at all from these infections, but more often there will be a discharge that can range from the pinkish-white you describe to dark green, and may be accompanied by a foul odor as well.

It would be in the best interest of your female to have her examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Please don't delay doing so.

Agree with Rik, Hundmutter, and Hexe.

Please see your vet ASAP.

The first priority is the health and welfare of your dog and any puppy(ies).

Winter coat growth can help camouflage a pregnancy. It can also mask underweight pregnant dog. If your dog looks about normal weight, but she's pregnant and as far along as you think, then it is possible she hasn't been eating enough (of the right stuff) for the puppies to grow as large as they should before birth. Underweight Mom will adversely affect puppy development, growth, and health before birth, and production of milk after, which will also adversely affect puppy development, growth, and health.

Please, please see your vet ASAP.

Agreed EH that there ARE far too many people breeding dogs without first finding out the basics of dog-keeping, let alone the 101 for producing more dogs. Like there aren't enough pooches in this world already.

But when someone has admitted they are a newbie, you won't prevent this happening by being sarcastic with them from the get-go, especially when you get in the first Reply. And you won't change the behaviour for all the others out there who buy a dog first and think second. Particularly not by getting this site a bad rep for being immediately 'off' with them.

I got it, even if Hexe didn't, that what you were really honing in on was the "7 weeks old" bit, more than the typo in "preganant"; someone who has SUCH trouble describing their problems really isn't showing a great level of appreciation of whatever that problem IS and how to describe it.

For the sake of the actual animals involved in such posts, we HAVE to tell the OP what to do next and why, it can't encourage something that's already happening.

I agree Hund, but it's still so troublesome. They need to be woken up! Breeding is no joke and there should be a purpose, to better the breed and if you don't have the basic sense to contact your vet and/or have a vet available and have to run to the internet, it's scary. I see far too often this type of post and all I think of, that poor momma and those poor puppies who did not ask for this.  Yes, helping in an already happening situation, however, encourage them to stop the madness that is overpopulation.  Have them sit in a kill shelter for 24 hours.

Your posts are always appreciated. Sometimes, I just get so frustrated. I haven't had a litter is 4 years even though I have been breeding since 2003 and I'm trying to get my feet back under me. (facing some serious health issues) I did my homework, I researched, I try to preserve decent DDR lines and I DO produce working pups. ONE litter per year (sometimes 2 on a near overlap), under a tight contract. I have my vet an inbox away and have faced some very, very challenging births. Just because I'm not some big shot on this website, doesn't make me care any less or produce mediocre pups.

Again, thank you Hund.

It's just so frustrating what reasons people come up with to blindly breed dogs without knowledge.

Entwerfer Haus I removed your above comment to another member please refrain from such comments in future.

You say you get frustrated? please do not take out your frustration on newbie members looking for advice here. Being frustrated makes you pull someone up for a typing error????? that's a strange one, so refrain from that too please, thank you. I have sent you a PM so any comments to me should be in a PM.

Thank you EH. Lets hope the OP has not been scared off & has been back, and has read your posts and mine about indulging in breeding animals when you don't have a clue what you are doing; AND all the others' good advice about getting this particular bitch to the vet, asap !
