A few days ago we completed our annual physical exam and vaccine updates at the vet. My dog weighed in at 90.3 lbs ( a chest girth of 34" ) and the vet noted her exceptional muscular development and her not being overweight at this body mass.
If she arch her body sideways you can see the imprint of her ribs and you can feel it as well with the slightest of finger pressure. Legs are bulky when relaxed and hip is covered with muscle tissue. The region joining the last ( floating ) rib to the hip is very firm and hard to the touch.
I attribute this to nutrition ( hihg protein/fat ) , and intense daily exercise. For the first 10 months of her life we had her on Origen LBP which she suddenly stopped liking , prompting us to switch to raw formulas ( Tefco Performance Raw, and a variety from Healthier pets.org ). For the last 6 months or so I have switched to Abady's granular formula ( Elevated Stress and Maintenance ) along with human grade pork, chicken, beef, and organ meats ( liver, kidney, heart, gizzard, trachea ). I still give Pro plan probiotics ( no doggy smell and firm poop ) , and alternate days dasuquin ( with msm ). See Weight History Plot below.
Exercise consists of very hard interval ( near anaerobic threshold ) running ( 30-40 consecutive 200 m chase/retrieve of a 12 inch ( circumference ) baseball. Running is done on a flat grassy field or uphill grassy slope. Wish I had a nice inclined sandy berm or dune nearby.
What has been your experience in seeing a clear relationship between nutrition/ exercise and growth of your dog?

The paper is just her growth history over time until now.
Dog does up to 40 back to back 200 m sprints nearly everyday.( anaerobic threshold interval training ).
Have lready mentioned that protein is HEAVIER than fat per unit weight. Thus if the dog gain substantial muscle mass the weight gain will be GREATER than if it was a weight gain based on fat.
Yogi because you probably does not properly feed your dog, it does not mean everyone is like that.
