Where are you located? I would recomend that the pup have a basic puppy manners class and then search for a "Handling" class for conformation. I start all my pups with a puppy class first to get as much socialization as possiable and then start teaching them stacking and being handled from an early age. Handling is very important in a breed that can sometimes be rather standoffish. Make sure your pup is current on vaccines before attending any group classes.

i live in oho, and right now the pup is 4 wks old and i been handling the ears, mouth, paws and tails of the pups to get them used to it for vet, show, or kids.  the area i live in has the training classes but all the handlers  came accross lieve 300 or more miles one way from me.   And none responded back. but i will take your advice and enroll him in puppy classes after he gets his shots and i'll see when (by what age) he needs to be there.   Thank you for the response.

Check with your local all breed dog training club. Depending on where you live in Ohio you should have several big clubs to choose from. Let me know where your located and i'll check with some friends that are from up that way.
Also watch vidoes on your breed to see how they are stacked and handled. And ask as many nice people as possiable to please touch your pup, check their teeth and run their hands over the body. All the while offering the pup treats for holding still. Different breeds stack slightly differently. With the German shepherd stacking totally different from all other breeds. Also start teaching your pups to walk on leash and then get them use to choke chains. Since your never going to show a bulldog on a wimpy nylon lead.
Hope this help.

What registries do you plan on showing him under?  Check their websites for upcoming shows and attend to get a feel for how the whole process works.  I mainly show American Bulldogs in the Southeast  in the NKC, but there are usually more UKC shows up your direction.  They tend to be more formal.

i live by youngstown ohio and my dogs are nkc registered.  i found out there are multipule show and multipul iwpa gold medalist champions in the line (weight pull fo those who didnt know).  After seeing this pedigree, i want to continue with the great line and breed only the best.   i had my male for 7 yrs and had his pedigree but didnt know about all the champions till the arf told me and my female's is the same way.  i died when i got the news of the pedigree.  I always wanted to have show dogs but like i said i want to try to keep the greatness going.

TO those who show for the nkc in american bulldogs.  i dont plan on steping on no toes.  i just want me and the dog to have fun and give it our all.  i know ther are many great american bulldogs out there weather working or not.

about the pups, I been handling there ears, mouth, tail, paws and holding them alot.   and the pup i'm keeping seems to be outgoing and goes to everyone.  they are only 4 wks of age and i know you have to start early for shows with pups. also i will check into the choker collars.

Thanks to all that has responded.
