Can anyone tell me is there such a thing as colby AB's? I came across a guy who is selling what he calls colby american bulldogs and claims they are the true american bulldogs? Also claims his dog's are registered with the NKC. When I questioned him about his lines by saying they were APBT's not AB's, he told me I was uninformed and had no idea about true AB's and to do my research.
He also stated that the so called modern AB's from johnson and scott are a diluted form of colby AB's and are not true AB's. So between what I already thought I knew about colby dogs and from what I have managed to research on the subject I am now totally confused about exactly what a colby dog is and what they may or may not have to do with AB's? Can anyone help with this question??

Well if i found the right breeder he has what some refer to as Ole Southern Whites.  http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dog.html?id=895861
Maybe this dog? Colby was a breeder's name and more then one guy has been named Colby. So i guess that is where the confusion comes from. I myself have never heard of Colby american bulldogs. But i know Lem Miller who owned Joshuas Sand Valley Sam. AKA Cowboy.
And the bottom half of the ped is Alan Scott's dogs. So they are really American Bulldogs. But not of the johnson type at all.
So i guess if this dog is related to the guy you spoke to then he wasn't lying. And in your defense there is a lot of confusing stuff going on with the american bulldog both back in the day when they started and now.
Hope this helps.
