Bully style AB - Page 1

Hello:

A friend of mine is in search of a breeder of a bully style American Bulldog as a family pet. I figured someone on here might have some suggestions for good breeders. He lives in NY but would be willing to purchase from anywhere. Thanks for any info.

What does he want in a dog? Because different lines can or won't do different things.
You say NY so I'm guessing hog hunting is a no go because Central park is not crawling with wild hogs.
Does he own his home or rent? Exercise guru or barely moving? Sports dog, family pet, personal protection. Toddlers in the house? Teenagers, just him? Wants an adult dog or a puppy. His he looked at any breeder or checked online? There are some very good dogs breders out there you just have to beat the bush a bit to find them. And there are a lot of puppy millers and BYB who are just looking to make a fast buck.
Ask, no demand to see the OFA or Penn hip. Bulldogs are riddled with hip problems.
Get some references to people that purchased a dog from them. Actually call those people.
Don't fall for the "Freak extream types" who are breeding far from the standard. NY seems to be over run with this style of breeder. Get a healthy dog that can breath, run and won't die of cancer at 6 years old.

Thanks for the message. He is def an exercise person, toddlers and one other small jack Russell in home so would be a family pet. He likes the bully style more and owns his place. He did look online but as you said so much BS out there. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Try the Bullvard, i do believe that they have a bunch of north east breeders (NY) and he may find a dog to his liking. I don't know any of them personally.  Because i avoid the bully dog, due to their health problems. And my personal preference is hybred with strong standard influence.
But like i said, go fish around on the bullyvard. Just be ready to drop major cash and if your paying top dollar, ask lots of question and demand proof of health testing. Minium dogs should have OFA or Penn Hip scores. Of GOOD or Better! Ask if they are NCL clear, as serious nurologicial diease. And free of Itchtheosis a serious skin diease. Heart test scores would be nice, but most people don't test. And like i always say, check the rescues, the perfect dog might be waiting at a foster home for him right now.

i know this post is older but did your friend find a bully american bulldog?  if not, i have a litter that is 5 weeks old on here.  nkc registered, multipule show and iwpa gold medalist champs.
