Long story somewhat short, lol.  I purchased an AB pup and the breeder had given him a vaccine at the age of 6 weeks, and nothing more.  She was misinformed that one vaccine is all that is needed for lifelong immunity.  Ggggggrrrrr. .  .  Anyway, I explained that its controversial, but that generally that is true only for adult dogs, NOT puppies.  That they need a SERIES, every 3-4 weeks, ending at 16 weeks, since we don't know when mother's immunity runs out, etc., etc.  Since breeder is in TN and I'm in Calif., the pup had to be shipped nearly 2,000 miles.  At my insistance, she vaccinated him again at 11 weeks, and about 5 days later, he was shipped.  Well, he came down with Parvo about 3 days after I received him.  A week later and $3,000 later, he's recovered. We almost lost him.  Breeder, after seeing my bills, agreed to reimburse me for both the pup and cost of shipping.  So that, thankfully, put a dent in my bill.

Now to the question--does he now have lifelong immunity to Parvo, or do I need to give him a booster at 16 weeks?  I'm getting mixed messages when researching this. I don't want to give him a combo vaccine, as I feel it is more likely to cause bad reactions.   I did read about Neovac DA2, which is a Distemper/adnovirus vaccine only. I don't want to give Lepto or Hepatitis, as Lepto can have dangerous effects, and Hepatitis is rarely seen anymore. So if I'm safe not giving Parvo, should I give just the Neovac DA2 at 16 weeks, and then again at 1 yr., 4 months of age?  I can order it online, as I can't find a vaccine for distemper only locally. What would you do in this situation?  Don't want to take any more risks with this pup, as he's been through more than enough already!  Thanks in advance!
