And Kyle your view on dog cannot be petted as a sign of weakness...
Not in agreement with this at all, because a degree of suspicion of strangers is part of the breed standard, BUT it is a fact that a dog with piloerection is feeling threatened. Doesn't mean it's a weak nerved dog, or that it won't bite for real, just that there is some fear mixed in with its defensiveness. The dog is also obviously wanting to defend its territory from the neighbour, so it's definitely not in prey mode...

There is a big difference between a fear aggressive dog and a dog like Uwe!
Unfortunately, in the GSD the latter is not as prominent....
But hey, everyone on this forum has the real deal, right? They all have those “Gangsta Dogs”....
If you want someone to truly assess your dog, take a video. Which in this time and age is very easy to do!

IMHO a think social aggression is a valid form of aggression that is confused with defensive aggression. There were wuite a few posters who privately agreed with this in pm but were afraid to do so on a recent thread.

You asked a question. This is not about me, this is about you and your question! You wanted to hear our opinions and not what you wanted to hear. You want people to be able to give you an assessment, post a video!
And please, leave me alone with Rudi Pegge. I am not deep enough in Male or Dutchies to make any statements. And Insaid that before. I don’t personally know the dog, never met the dog. And from what I can tell you are only going off of second hand information yourself. Because in another post you said yourself “You were told.”
If I was going off of that, Gildo was used for hog hunting....lmfao!
BUt again, you asked a question. You want real answers, post a video of your dog approaching a stranger and what he does when he sees your neighbor.

most likely lack of self confidence in the face of real or imaginary confrontation.
how old is your dog and how she acts in similar circumstances but with different people?

some dogs may bite petting hand from fear.
rare but some very dominant just do not tolerate familiarity from anyone other than the master.
