Canine Training Systems have some great videos on German show handling and preparation. It goes through all that takes place at a show and all you are expected to do to present your dog to the judge properly. It is a very good investment! The German Shepherd Dog the German Way Tape 3 - Basic Training, Conditioning and Handling The German Shepherd Dog the German Way Tape 4 - Advanced Training, Conditioning and Handling Or even better get the whole set: The German Shepherd Dog the German Way Set http://www.caninetrainingsystems.com/

Milly, Showing your dog for the first time at the German Sieger show can be a great adventure. Some are successful, some are not. Plan on sending your dog to Germany to compete prior to the sieger show in local(OG) and Regional(LG) shows. I send mine before the summer weather sets in and their coats disappear. This is before the end of June for my part of the country. You will need to find someone to campaign your dog in Germany. The dog will need to be shipped with it's papers, scorebook, and health records. Hopefully your breeder or one of their associates will be able to find someone to campaign your dog. The costs depends on how good your dog is and how well it's trained and who's campaigning it. I have had a dog campaigned and shown by a lesser known person for as much as 4500.00 (and the dog never made it to the show) and an extremely successful person for as little as 300.00 (dog went first ring). The better the dog, the lesser the cost and the more people want to be involved with it.

Hi Milly, 1) You need to be a member of the SV 2) Your dog needs to be registered with the SV 3) Hips/Elbows/DNA (Kkl. if old enough) should be registered with the SV 4) You need to register your dog by the cut-off date. Campaigning a dog is recommended. Nothing to stop you though from packing your dog up and showing him/her and going like a wild card. In the past 4 years my dogs have brought me to the Siegershow and I had a great time too. There is a central station at the show where the numbers are picked up. Lots of Americans around and English speaking Germans. Good luck!!!
