An asteroid was supposed to pass between the earth & the moon today. Anyone else heard about this? The news said it was as big as an aircraft carrier. Wouldn't that have some effect on us? And why is the national emergency alert test scheduled for the day AFTER? Just sayin'! wink

It didn't actually go between the Earth and Moon but passed within the Moons orbit from the Earth.
Pretty close as far as I'm concerned.

Well it would certainly be a life altering event for more than a few I suspect, directly or indirectly all would be effected.
You really have no way of knowing what might be discovered heading in our direction as time goes by.

I have always wondered if such an object could be deflected, if we had the technology to do it, or even if anyone had a good idea how.

At least they can see some distance and can plot a trajectory, some warning if they decide to let us know.
Ya never know.
