Xeph

by Xeph on 10 October 2012 - 03:10

We have a new girl here :)  Just 10 days shy of 6 months.  Lovely temperament.  Outgoing and inquisitive, nicely food driven, learning about toys.  She's only been here since Sunday, so we've not started a lot of drive work yet, but I don't think we're going to have a problem ^_^

Cute, Xeph. Not my preferred breed type, but as Am showlines goes, she's not bad...gorgeous pigment, not surprising as I rarely see much in the way of faded colors in the Am lines anymore; more shoulder angulation than usually seen which gives her a more balanced structure front to back; doesn't have the 'giraffe' neck that became so common, & a pretty decent topline.  Head is more sighthound-like than I care for, but I recognize that this has also become more of the norm for the Am lines, too.  Wishing you tremendous success with her in every venue you enter!

Thank you, hexe :)

I'm hoping her head will come in.  Her mother's head is GORGEOUS.  Father's head isn't what I like, but we'll see what happens.

I love her coupling.  You know we in AmLines have a tendency to go too long.  Also love her pasterns and bone.  Both parents have BEAUTIFUL bone.  Sire has nice short hocks as well.

Mama's head

Oooh, yes, Mama's got a very nice head on her!  And I agree with you about the pasterns, the hocks and her bone in general.  She's also nice and dry, and has PERFECT feet. I am a fanatic about nice, tight little feet with well-arched toes [on dogs]! Red Smile

Pasterns are a big problem in AmLines.

She IS very dry!  We got her moving today (it's been raining, so haven't been able to really get her out and see her move) and she is nice and clean coming and going.  Not all twisty and what not.  Beautifully ligamented!

She has a little nervousness towards other dogs (larger than her), but I think that's a lack of exposure, not an overall issue inherent in the dog.  I am already seeing much improvement in just a couple of days.  She is just excellent with people, and melded right into our house!

She is all tail wags and kisses, super butt waggy, and rather than running away from strange noises, she runs towards to investigate.  She thinks cheese is the greatest invention on the planet.  She currently isn't eating her kibble well, but I am 99% sure it's because I put diatomaceous earth on it, and she thinks it sucks.  So I'm not concerned.

I have taken her to a couple different places already and she shows no environmental sensitivities.  She's going to be a TON of fun!

Full pic of mom

And dad

I'd just like to say, hexe, I really appreciate that though these dogs aren't your preference, that you gave a kind a thoughtful reply, both on things you like, and things you do not.

Do not like dad's pasterns.  Grateful that my puppy got mom's.  I do think that dad's size, breadth of thigh, bone, and short hocks are absolutely amazing.  Don't know what to say about his forechest, aside from he honestly doesn't have one (mom does, which makes it a good match).  Don't care for dad's front.  Shoulder layback could be better.  I think Vixie (my puppy) got a better front than both parents.

Love the breed type on mom, and she also has beautiful bone and short hocks.  Great pasterns.  A bit long in the body perhaps.  I think the croups on both parents are a bit short, which is apparent in all of the puppies that I saw.  Croups in the pups are currently steep, but I think they'll improve as they grow.  Underline is great on both parents, excellent withers, and obviously, fabulous pigment.

Thanks :)  I know dad isn't everyone's cup of tea.  Their really are many things I like about him, but stylistically, mom is my preference.

This puppy should be a lot of fun.

Xeph,

Your girl is pretty, Amecican show line are not my thing so I cannot really comment on her but her mom is lovely and I think that I could own her but I do not like her sire at all ( sorry)

From what I have seen of ASL I do believe you will have lots of fun with her. Good Luck with her.

The sire isn't mine, so who likes him and doesn't doesn't bother me, any, though as I mentioned before, he does have his good qualities.
Honestly, there has never been a litter I've been interested in where I liked both parents.

The male has probably the poorest placed upper arm I have come across. It's an issue in ASL, but that one is practically vertical.
