Hello,
I am interested in knowing where Yasko Farbenspiel is at the moment and whether he is still being used as a stud. If anyone has any information, I would appreciate it.
Thank you.

He was standing at stud with Bill Fleischer, but I've heard that he's been retired.

yes Fleischer rented him for stud, thats why he has World Class puppies.

Rumor had it at one time he was to go to someone in Florida. That rumor was floating about the time Bill brought him to TX from Germany.
I also remember a long time back that the new owner wrote here in this database stating that Yasko would be coming home to him once Bill was finished using him.
Someone earlier the month/last month said here that Evy Fleischer "Bill's" wife said he was retired due to spreading rumors but never heard what the rumor actually was.

One does not simply "retire" a dog like Yasko unless something else was going on, certainly not because of untrue "rumors". Further, in the past, when "rumors" circulated about another dog Fleisher had brought to the states, he actively countered that "rumor". So I think the real truth is yet to be known.
Personally, I am interested as I have access perhaps to one of Yaskos' finest sons and wonder whether he would be used as a stud. That is my interest, not to stir the pot. But again, something here simpy does not ring true.
Thank you for all your posts.

I beliave that the rumors were concerning Yasko's fertility. Bill did post his fertility report on the web site. I suggest that you call him, as he would surely have any info.

NOTE: Not to stir the pot!
This is what I've heard; take it for what it's worth...hear-say.
Yasko in his later years here in the U.S. had a low libido. He showed very little interest in breeding naturally. Most of his breedings were done via surgical implant and the resulting success rate of pregnant females was very low with small sized litters. Even with the posting of fertility report I was told he didn't have a particularly high concentration of sperm and motility was not the best. It's also note-worthy that Fleischer never had more than a few litters out of Yasko posted on his website. You would think that having one of the TOP GSD studs in history, and ALL those females, many more litters of puppies would have been available.
Only Bill and Mary Coppage know for sure.
