Hi guy, i have heard something regarding "Hormones injection". whereby it can make you dog grow bigger. Kindly enlighten me on this. Advisable to do that? Is it safe for the dogs? Thank you very much

Wow, this is something that should never be done. What was meant to be was meant to be. I hate to even bring this up because I know absolutely no facts-merely rumours-and we know whoat those are worth. Over the past years there have been allegations of certain sport dog owners (no names that I remember) who used injectable steriods to improve muscle mass and strength, and past that there were rumours in the sport dog world that blood tests might soon be required if there was reasonable suspicion of steriod use. Steriod use is certainly a no-no, as it is at the least, dishonest, and the side effects pose serious harm to the dog. Perhaps someone from the working dog world can expand on my statements above, and confirm whether it is just rumour and speculation (which I really suspect), or if there is any truth to the alleged steriod use and testing for same. Anyone who would risk the health of they're dog to win some extra points should be SHOT !!! Does that enlighten anyone ? I know too many people who started dabbling with this stuff on Race Horses, and The horses PAID FOR IT !! They died very young ages, breaking legs because of too much too soon thus being destroyed, or surviving a while to have a heart attack in the middle of a race not only killing the horse but also injuring at least it's rider and many times several other horses and riders. Now Horses are tested ! I hope they do start testing dogs, and shooting owners/trainers caught using this crap. isn't it amazing how the animals always pay for peoples stupid decisions.

and just when I hear enough of what goes in in the animal world :( EchoMeadows, I do not think the owners should be shot (I'm being nice); however I think the owners should be injected with the same chemical that they give to their animals to try to get higher points and have the owners be forced to work until they drop of a heart attack. I feel that if the owners of the animals could experience what the animal feels after being injected.. the last thing they would do is to stick that needle inside the animal again.

Echo, Brittany, I like the whole "Eye for an Eye" theory! Really, if the owners know whats going to happen, and decide to do it anyway, just to win, they should be injected, and put through the same tests as the dogs, see how they like it! Imagine, a human running on all fours to bite the sleeve!

blueskyekennels, I also like the "eye for an eye" phrase. I'm not overly religous but I respect and agree the phrase "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth". Those who do bad things to animals and to others shall receive the same method, even if it causes instant death to the person. I feel so sorry for the racing horses. I'm sure they get treated like a piece of garbage! A while ago on my local news station, a racing horse tripped and fell and died while the media was only focusing on the handler and didn't even show their condolence to the dead horse! What ticked me off the most is that the handler had the kind of smirk that you would want to punch at the end of the interview.. By judging his reactions... it seemed like the idiot handler didn't even care that he caused the death to a gorgeous creature. I do believe that animals who cannot speak for themselves will have more rights in the future. Just checkout how not so long ago humans were allowed to beat an animal and was only fined with a ticket.. now you get 1 year in prison plus a heavy fine..

alikzn - im sure there are things you can give to your dog that will help it grow, but i would not advise it since you would be causeing its body to do something unnatural, and could cause a lot of damage. Bob-o what a wonderful answer, you said that you werent too sure, stated your regard for a dogs health, then asked if anyone else had any info. My oh, my what a wonderful board it'd be if every one where to answer questions posed, look for different ensight and GOT OF THEIR DAMN SOAP BOX. hats off to you Bob-o this was perfect opportunity to display a holier than you attitude and you didnt

by EchoMeadows on 12 October 2006 - 06:10

Wscott00, if you were reffering to me, I did answer the question, I did give information that I had, mind you it was first hand and witnessed. (was marrried to a jocky a long time ago) If that's riding the soap box and being holier than thou, sorry. Interesting enough I did see you also answered the question, and advised against the use as well. good job. I'm not gonna attack you for it. Bob-o As Always, Very much respect your reply !! honestly I wish I did not always have the emotions or passions that I do, But I guess it comes with the frustrations of the Job here. Keep up the great work Bob-O You are appreciated very much, :-)
