Hello, You all know we are fairly new to the GSD breeding side. We have done our homework and continue to do so. We started from scratch and are going for our first BH Sch Title this Saturday. (wish us luck) Anyway I would like to get in touch with some breeders who breed much like we do, for the "complete" German shepherd. Not just Showlines, Not just Workinglines, But a nice blend of the two lines that best fit the "Standards" While improving on Temperaments, Structure, Trainability, and Health. My reason for this is that I would like to do some outside trading of pups, or young adults to open my lines a bit. Almost every dog on our place with the exception of 4 are related to a single bitch that we own. eighther a son/daughter or grandson/daughter of her. While I love what she does for the breed I need some outside blood. I don't like to ship, I like to meet dogs and they're owners guess I'm picky that way. And I would like for folks to come meet our crew as well. If there are any breeders in the Pacific Northwest area, ie .. Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Way north Cali. that would be interested in some of our lines and think we might like theirs. Please do speak up. I figure I can post this here as this is yet another way for all of us to work together to improve the breed. Thanks in advance and I look forward to making some new friends. echomeadowsheps@aol.com

All I have to say is that I know of a DObie in our club that got his BH and that is as far as he went , he tracks like crap bites like crap and retrieves like crap. This dog came out to the club until he was 5 years old when his handler could see that he didn't have it! I would hope to God that he is never breed , he had a good handler , good helpers but he did not have it in him to be a sports dog or working dog , he was a very unpredictable dog. I am a GSD owner but what I am trying to say is that you need to do a lot with your dog a BH is just the beginning. I wish you luck with your BH and don't stop there if you plan on doing good breeding.

Oh god NO !! As I said this is the beginning for us, I bought Twister when he was 9 weeks old and have worked up to this. And definately plan to continue, Plan to go all the way !!! Not only with him, we are working other dogs as well, but right now he's the only one ready to go at this time.

Good luck with your BH. Remember to breath while out there, really!

Besides breathing, which is very important, remember to smile at your dog, a lot! that makes a huge difference. Best of luck to you and your dog, and may his focus on you be perfect!

Echo, Best wishes for you and Twister! And as animules and Deeswolf have said-just have fun with it. It's a bit intimidating to be out there by yourself - just focus on him and make it fun! And if something goes wrong, don't worry, just go with it! The judges are very nice and understand!

ACK9 that was kind of an off the wall post. What Echo is needing is to feel we support her. The Dobie story was kind of negative but then again you can't compare Dobes to GSD's. A real "working" Dobe is hard as hell to find. I give prompts to the guy for still getting out there with his dog, knowing damn well he had members in his club, that thought the way you do about him. He did what he could with what he had. At least he stuck it out even without winning major titles. Says alot about his character. Obviously he loves his dog and didn't give up on it. This would be the guy I'd sell one of my dogs to. A club near here has the same story, a guy and his Dobie. Everyone still supports him and the helpers keep working the dog. Sure he wont win anything but they are having fun and the dog gets to use it's brains for something. At least he isn't rotting in a kennel somewhere. I personally like the guy allot he is one of the nicest. I feel bad when he gets frustraited with his dog. The dog is getting up there in years now, so maybe he will go onto another dog and have more success. I'd much rather see him try and fail and keep trying, than him shit can his dog and move on to the next one. Too much of that going around already. Good Luck Echo and have fun. Twister is a beautiful dog.

Hey 4pack, first of all that was not a negative responce to this post, and second of all it was a female handler and she gave all to that dog 4 years of good training and we never gave up on her she will tell you that herself this is a friend of mine and she thought getting her BH was telling her she had a great dog, we are a club with all GSD, and her Dobie, yes she has fun with her dog ,we all started together and I have gone much further with my dog than she has , she really wanted to have gone further with her dog than just a BH, if you love the sport like I do you will understand that yes you have with your dog regardless but going all the wayis what you are looking to do.Does a football player just wants to put on his uniform and not play at every game?My point was that getting a BH does not mean your dog is breedable.

And my point was nowhere in Echo's post did she say as much. We all know a BH is just the beggining. Some friend, does she know you say her dog bites, tracks and retrieves like crap? Ok so now we all know your dog is much better than hers. I guess that was the point you were trying to make? Next time don't come at me with a "HEY" I don't even answer to kids when talked to in that way. Stay on topic because your Dobie story didn't seem along the lines with the post. Thats what I was pointing out. I wasn't attacking you, just questioning the relation to the original post. Also going all the way isn't what "everybody" is looking to do. Echo is already doing a fine job with her dogs and isn't a fool that would get a quick title and then, breed the heck out of the dog, like it was the next best thing to sliced bread. I still fail to see the positive side to your post.
