I know this seems like a weird post, but this, along with my DEPRESSED STUD DOG post, I mean it in all seriousness. I feed Naya breakfast, lunch, dinner, take her for walks, play with her, train her, kiss her, sing to her, sleep in the same bedroom as she does, watch movies with her, and yet, she DOESN'T LOVE ME! My mom visits on a daily basis, she listens to her everyword, she walks into the room, Naya runs to kiss her hands and greet her. My mom says NOTHING to her, DOESN'T EVEN LOOK AT HER, and this stupid puppy loves HER more?! I walk into the room, Naya opens one eye, and then shuts it... Am I raising her wrong, am I a bad mother? Am I expecting too much? Or, am I coming down with a case of ENVY? I hope I'm overreacting and she'll love me soon, because I certainly don't feel this way now!

LOL! Just don't worry about it.... I have had GSD's for years now and my current male is alot different than any I have had. He likes my husband as much as he likes me and he does "nothing" (my husband) to really warrant it. But ya know what, its OK...I know if I have to leave he will feel perfectly content and not have to go in the bedroom and stare down the driveway until I come home. I do know if we both go out the door at the same time and I go west and hubby goes east... my boy goes west!

I had the same problem! My husband and I have three dogs. I play with the dogs, love on them, lay on the couch with them...etc. We bond is what i'm trying to say. My husband is very stern with them. He is especially stern with our German Shepherd Mya. He doesn't let her get away with anything. Mya adores my husband. I can say "Mya, come here" a million times and she will just look at me like, " yeah right" My husband on the other hand can say it once and she's by his side in a split second looking at him with these sweet eyes. My husband tries to tell me why this happens but, i'm kinda stubborn. He got me this Ceaser Milan The dog Whisperer dvd and this guy really put things in perspective for me. You can get these dvd's at your local Wal-Mart. I think they would help you a lot.

Throw her butt in the kennel. Get her out twice a day to spend time with YOU, playing and bonding. She'll be a lot happier to see you in a day or two.

*****You should only feed your puppy once a day. The last thing that you need to be doing is to over feed a puppy. It's not good for a puppies hips and elbows to be having stress from all of the fat that the puppy is holding on.*** Ummm Brittany, you are way off on this advice! As a matter of fact puppies should be fed 3 times a day at the young age and gradually switched to twice a day feedings once they are a bit older. Even adult dogs are better off fed twice a day so that their food is split in smaller portions (which could lower a chance of bloat). How many times a day do you eat? Now imagine eating your normal daily caloric intake in one sitting - I would like to guess its not going to feel all that great! Overfeeding a puppy has nothing to do with how many times a day that puppy eats but with how much she/he is given per feeding...

Kaiser1979, I was thinking the same thing! About cesar milian, I think if you give them too much affection they look at you as a part of the pack and not a pack leader. When cesar walkes into his "pack" he ignores the dogs and walks stright in. I have solved alot of my dogs problems by watching him(my dog used to get in fights at the dog park). But I think the dvds are a good investment, or you can just watch him on the National Geographic Channel sometimes. My dog was the SAME way, I would walk in the room and she would go and sit in her crate, and give me the oddest look. Then my father would walk in(he ignored her he never really was into dogs) and she would go wild over him! So then I ignored her until she came to me for affection, now she runs to me to go for a walk or to the park or whatever we decide to do that particular day!

[[You should only feed your puppy once a day. The last thing that you need to be doing is to over feed a puppy. Just cause the pup is being fed 3x's a day doesn't mean its being overfed. Pups should be fed SMALL meals 2-3x's a day depending on their age. I feed my adult dogs 2x's a day (to prevent bloat) does that mean I'm overfeeding them?? NO, because instead of getting (1) 3-4 cup meal they get (2) 1.5-2 cup meals.

Do you keep her in a crate. Ive noticed this with my own dogs when they have a little bit too much free time outside of the crates. Since Ive been using crates and leave them alone I havent had this problem. Now I go to let them out and they are straight into my arms with puppy licks and lots of love.

Thanks so much...MOST of you, you guys are sweet! To answer questions: Naya is now 14 weeks old She sleeps in a crate, thats about it, I'm going to start making the crate a BIG part of her day, after the info I've been given I feed her half a cup three times a day. She is NOT over fed, you could EASILY count ALL of her ribs, you can feel her pelivs/hip bones, and she is VERY active, not overweight AT ALL. She's just a big girl, 30lbs at 14 weeks...Incase anyone's wondering, I am feeding Eukanuba LargeBreed Puppy (PLEASE no one bash me because this is what I feed, it's MY CHOICE, and I have ALWAYS had EXCELLENT results with it, I am VERY happy with it!!!!) For supplements, I add two 1000mg gel caps of Salmon oil, one Wellness WELL-TABS, one 560mg of vitamin C, and occasionally I give her some Puritan's Pride Coat and Skin oil. I have always had a good voice, wish I could've made it big, and I sing to my dogs every night, the actually know when its getting close, and I go out and sit on the couch, they all bunch up around me to hear it...Just sit there, and look at me. I sing for about 10 minutes, its like it hypnatizes them! Oh well, its almost midnight, I'm tired, and I need to get the pup off to bed (her crate)

One reason is that dogs need a "pack leader". In the case of the "stern" husband that's why the dog bonded with him. She accepted him as the pack leader. One other thing you can do at feeding time is hand feed her for a few days. Make sure you are playing/training her and that will make her accept you as the pack leader. Make sure every toy comes from you and she knows it. good luck...
