Hi,

I have been wondering on how I can add the health information for pedigrees.    I will be adding a DOD (Date of death) and some way to add or remove added health issues,.  I have been trying to gather a list of known ailments in the current pedigreed dog and input would be appreciated.

I was thinking about setting up a feature like,  1) select type (below) in drop down 2) Add some text  3) click "add" thats adds the record,  .  Allowing only 1 entry per disease per dog.

Here is my current list:
elbow dysplasia
hip dysplasia
hypothyroidism
entropion
bloat
distichiasis
epilepsy
microphthalmia
cataracts
ectropion
cancer
trichiasis
cerebellar hypoplasia
lymphoma cancer
retinal dysplasia
arthritis
nystagmus
osteosarcoma
renal dysplasia
glaucoma
hypomyelinogenesis
cryptorchidism
retinal detachment
deafness
brachury
pituitary dwarfism
cardiomyopathy
hypertrophic osteodystrophy
wobbler's syndrome
allergies
atypical pannus
hyperosteodystrophy
juvenile cataract
cleft palate
heart diseases

Oli:

Great idea.  Would you also add EPI, SIBO and DM?

How about perianal fistula, I have gotten in a lot of rescue GSD's with that...

Mylopathy, (neurolical) can't think of what it is called, too early in the morning...and no tea yet!!!
Thanks, Steph

DM = degenerative myelopathy. Cheryl also mentioned it above, and it's a biggie for the GSD!

I think that is a great idea - how about dogs that have multiple issues?

What to do with people falsifying records? - seems to be common theme - sigh there is one on with "SV graded hips" who is in california and has put that rating on a puppy less than one year. And has claims on a dam in the lineage who is questionable.

Who would be able to make the changes? Could someone else come in and change your dog?

hemangiosarcoma [not sure if hereditary but certainly a breed predispoisition]

Oli,

How about torsion? Not sure if you would want to separate this up into variouse.g. splenic, bloat, mesenteric etc.

Cheers,

AandA

And pannus....another of those questionable if hereditary, but our breed has an increased incidence of this disorder, so probably heritable....jh

Would be nice to be able to put in Pennhip score numbers too.  Many people are using Pennhip now for hips instead of OFA.

Also, even though we put in size and colors it doesn't show on the pedigrees.  Why is that and can you make it so that it does?  I'd love to see that information!

Thanks for all you do Oli!
Kelly

Edit Add:  I would be happy to email you a Pennhip report if you would like to see one so you know the kind of information that is on it.  Just let me know.

Oli,
First, thank you!!!

What about Patent Ductus Arteriosus, Sub-aortic Stenosis, persistent right aortic arch, and megaesophagus.

Also, awhile back someone mentioned having a place for tattoo and/or microchip numbers. Would you consider adding this as a searchable function? We so often see posts of found dogs with tattoos and microchips, and it sure would be nice to have one place where that information could be stored.

Thanks again,
Mary
