Hello Sukh
I'm a breeder from Germany and I can tell you that the SV still only tatooed the puppy's
at 8 weeks. And that if the dog only has a chip it's not a German bred German Shepherd.
In the Netherlands they use chips instead of tatooes, and only when the breeder insist they put the last 3 numbers
from the chip as a tatoo in the puppy's ear.
I hope this helps you
Regards
Francis

Hello Sukh,
just to complete the info provided by Francis, a german bred and registered with the SV Puppy has to have a Tatoo in his right ear. This tatoo wil be done at the age 50 + days.
As of 2010 the SV will just have the chip, no more Tatoo`s.
