Hello,
I have been looking for a serious competition dog for 8 months now.
I've been in the amazing world of Schutzhund now for 9 months. I
started doing a crazy amount of research and trying to honestly figure
out what would best benefit me in the long run. I wanted something
that wasn't just another pretty face and something that was
genetically capable, had solid nerves, and was healthy (not just
parents but pedigree)
I learned throughout the past 8 months that a high drive dog is not
like your average pet. They need more than just to be ran everyday.
They need to think. These dogs can help you around the house, and
really keep you motivated. Complete in temperament, drive,
willingness to learn, and willingness to please! A working dog is not
meant for everyone because such dogs need a lot of consistent
attention when they are younger, if not they can become destructive.
It's not much different than raising a child. With a pet you want the
consistency of the mannerism down. With a competition dog you want
military precision. This sport is time consuming, expensive, and
difficult for those who want to go far. Although it has these things
this sport brings people and their dogs closer, a union you can find
nowhere else. Both people and dog are happy and it's a journey that is
heart felt and amazing when given the opportunity to experience it. :D
With this being said I started looking into different methods training
and talking to people such as Taunya and Josef Mravrik, Debbie Zappia,
David Landau PhD, Bill McClure, Terry Hackathorn, Joe Tackett, Beverly
Hudgins and Thomas Boyle. Some people I train with, others have met
and intend on training with, and other's I have done AMAZING business
with or have just talked. All of them have influenced me one way or
another and for that I'm EXTREMELY grateful.
All above people are around the United States spanning from Texas to
Georgia. I joined the North East Georgia Schutzhund Club of Athens,
GA and I started researching lines that would best suit me. I learned
the differences between American, West German, East German, DDR,
Czech, Belgian and others. I learned what could happen with the mixing
of lines and what you could possibly gain and loose from certain
unions. I learned the differences between solid working, nerves, and
conformation. I learned that the total package is not only the
willingness to work and to be good at it but that the dog should also
have solid conformation and solid health to be considered working and
breeding stock. I got into contact with a few breeders with very
promising litters, none that seemed right for me at the time for one
reason or another.
Finally Taunya told me about Terry Hackathorn and her female Prada
Hagendoorn von Kellerhaus. Immediately I got excited and contacted
Terry and the Tacketts about Prada and the up coming litter. Terry
informed me that she was a solid bitch with a good standing in
Conformation. 1/4 West German Show line, 1/4 DDR, 1/2 East German
Working line. Solid in Temperament and working at the club with the
Tacketts. Terry then told me that David (my club director) has met
and evaluated Prada before. David then told me that he thought she was
a good dog and had a lot of potential.
Taunya of course owns the male that Prada bred to. Galant z Pohranicni
Straze is the top conformation dog in Slovakia and the has the highest
breeding survey of Germany, KKL1, and highest breeding survey of
Slovakia. He also has his IPO 1, SchH 1, and SVV 3. He is also Cadaver
Certified. Galant is the total package, the tot

Galant is the total package, the total German shepherd, and
he produces himself!
Needless to say I couldn't pass up this opportunity to get a baby out
of them and it was perfect timing.
On April 11th Prada had 3 boys and 3 girls. On May 31, 2009, the red
collar female, now named Akean von Rumorhaus (call name Ocean), who is
top pick female and top pick litter, came home with me from Texas to
Georgia. She is confident, quick as a whip, and more importantly she
is happy. When I first arrived at Terry's house she told me that she
didn't want me to cheat, that she wanted me to guess which one was my
girl. Needless to say it wasn't hard to figure out because by the time
she had taken out the second puppy my girl had jumped out of her 2
foot high puppy box ran around the corner, onto a wooded surface, and
slid to a sit at my feet, all without missing a beat! :D This same
girl I told Terry I was in LOVE with at only 2 days old, I never
thought it could end up more perfect than what it has and I pray that
it continues to go so perfectly.
Taunya and Terry, she's perfect and I mean it. I couldn't be happier
and I can't wait for everyone to meet her!
She starts attending club with me June 14th.
I have pictures of the entire litter and then a few individuals attached.
Thanks for reading my book and can't wait to hear from you.
