After x-rays submitted to the OFA have been evaluated, what becomes of them? Are they returned to your vet?
I'm talking actual x-rays here, not the ones that are electronically submitted on a CD.

You know, when you send x rays to the ofa , if you put a note with the x rays that you want want the x rays back, the ofa will send them them back to you. Also if you call them direct before they receive the pictures and you tell them you want the x rays back they will also them the pictures back to you. But if they had the x rays a while they may not send them back.

You are lucky if you have gotten xrays back from the OFa. They started making archival digital records of xrays received two decades ago and at that time their official policy became that they would NOT return xrays and if you wanted a copy for your records to have an extra set done by your vet at the time xraying. Film xrays are destroyed once they are digitized and archived.

I persoanlly send the 5.00 in and have the return mine, that way if I need to compare or give (on prelimbs) I have them. OFA just started this not too long ago on returning X-rays. I guess they had too many :)

Sun,
Send the 5 bucks and a note. ALSO, in some areas it is vets law to get the Xrays back to them, so let the vet know what you are doing. The last time I did this, the vet told me I could not have the Xrays back as they had to save them in case of future law suits. But if you talk to OFFA they will send them to you. It may be copies, but the same thing. Check this out ahead of time, they will talk to you on the phone, at least as of 2 years ago they did. It is not a big deal to get worked out.
