Bob,
I think that it is a good idea to get your dogs on a better food than RC, but, the recent loose stools may not be from the food.
This time of year many dogs get loose stool because of the ground becoming un-frozen.
Think of all the crap in the snow from your dogs and other animals that didn't get picked up over the past 4 months. This is not a criticism of you.  Even being very diligent about this you end up with a lot of bacteria on the ground. A cold, damp ground is a bacteria trap as one vet  put it to me. As the snow and the ground melts it ends up on your dogs feet and eventually in their mouths when they lick their feet. It is quite common. Because I co-own a rescue I know a lot of veterinarians and they love this time of year. Many, many dogs and cats come to their clinics with loose stools. They send them home with some anti-biotics and it clears up. Great money maker for the Vets.
Give your dogs a spoonful of  plain yogurt in their food if you don't already. It will probably clear up in a few days.
Make sure to buy regular yogurt with all the fat in it, not low-fat, or non-fat.
I hope this helps!

Martins K9 has a lot of fallowers, and the price makes it even more attractive, never heared anything bad from anyone that had used that food. I don't use Martins K9 but I do use his energol, and antioxidant formula and I love it so dose my dog. I happen to use Vetschoice Holistic and mix it with Orijen 6fish. Works good but cost way more as well. If the prices will keep on going up, I will most def switch over to Martins K9 formula. Good stuff.

Is any one using Eukanuba or Canidae?

Bob, all I can say is I nearly lost my girl to an intersucception, required surgical intervention, and she was on RC at the time, the German Shepherd Dog formula, & I heard from several others who had similiar experiences, some who were not as lucky as I was, and lost their animals. I blame the RC, I have no proof, I only have my gut feeling. Try Evo or Orijen, their products are not farmed out to large manufactoring firms like RC is now. They use the same facilities that produce Diamond dog foods. Good Luck! jackie harris

Look at Eagle Pack. They make some good food and they are not too far from you in Mishawaka.

Otherwise I would start looking at grain-free foods like those that Canidae now makes (it is expensive) or Taste of the Wild which is reasonably priced for grain-free.

The regular Canidae formula has been changed in the past year and many people were displeased with the changes. I think that you will find more than enough posts on this board speaking about this.

Eukanuba is Iams and you can do better for less money.

The best food that I've tried and have seen excellent results, including fixing skin issues also, has been Harvest Blend: www.harvestblend.ca   It's the only food in my experience that has proven to keep weight on my Malinois.  The weight that is maintained is pure lean muscle and not fat.  I'm currently feeding 3/4 Growth Maintenance (Chicken formula) to 1/4 Supreme Fish formula.  Their stool is next to none and their coats look absolutely great.

If you're thinking of a raw diet, I would recommend Nature's Variety or Wolf Pack.

JMO.
Good luck.

Bob, my brother uses Canidae and loves it. I use to feed it to my Shepherds and they had loose stool and lot's of it. I'm trying Premium Edge at the moment.

I started out feeding Canidae to my pup ( kibble & can)  then I noticed the food in the canned looked different.  She started getting diahrea.   I found out Canidae changed their formula.  I have sinced switched her to Fromm Adult formula and Solid Gold canned.  She seems to be doing pretty well with that.  I am also adding every few days  Omega 3 fish oil.
