Kalibeck

by Kalibeck on 16 March 2009 - 16:03

Nobody around here wants to listen to me whine, so I'll do some here. Had my TKR, & now I'm home, in pain, trying to schedule PT,  insurance co won't call back, surgeon's office won't call back, PT center won't call back. House was a freakin' disaster when I got home yesterday, nearly tripped & blew out my knew knee on crud left laying around, bathroom filthy, bedroom disgusting.......GRRRRRR! Two years ago I did all this work for him, to make sure he made it through his surgery OK........now it seems I'm on my own. I mean, he's been sweet, but .............SIGH! Guess I should just take some Xanax & another pain pill! (Oh, & he won't let me play with the dogs!) jackie harris

Feel better Jackie. Life can sure be a bummer sometimes! Just be careful and sure as hell, don't depend on others. That way, one is not disappointed! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Sorry Jackie,
I'd say double up on tha pain pills and rest.    Give it a few days, let things pile up, let the dogs in when ya can, and maybe when it gets deep enough someone will realize who takes care of those things anyother time.
Hope you get to feeling better soon.
Moons.

Whoever told you not to play with the dogs should hear this message from someone who knows better: as long as you are not doing anything that will cause you to aggravate your initial injury, doing various things with the dogs is both psychologically and physically useful. Even if it is to keep up your spirits, decrease stress, increase self-efficacy, and distract you from anything that tends to bring you down, you should go ahead and do something (use your best judgment!) At some point, being involved with the dogs in a physical way with aid you with physical therapy. I know someone who had a recent leg injury and getting into physical exercise with the dog does not feel like physical therapy and is a lot more fun, too. So you are more likely to do it. But even spending quiet time with your dogs (after you play, even tossing the ball for them) is good for your continued recovery. So don't listen to that hogwash! Hope this helps!

Sorry to hear about that, Kali. Unfortunately, it seems we're not able to get sick, be down, or anything without expecting our hard work of trying to keep the place liveable to kinda get undone.
While maybe you don't need rough rompings, there's nothing more healing than giving a hug to a furry friend whom you think the world of (no, I mean the dog!). We wouldn't have GSD therapy dogs if there wasn't positive healing benefits to it. So love your dogs and let them love you and welcome you back-just don't undo what you've had done, and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Thanks Hodie & Moons, I am kind of bummed out. I've always had to rely on myself & me only, but I guess I thought when the chips were down I could count on him. I am disappointed! I'm probably being unrealistic. Good advise, from both of you.  Time to elevate, ice, & sleep. To hell with the rest of it. And later on, I'm putting a thick dressing on it, & letting a dog stay with me for a while. They're the best comfort you can get. jackie harris

I am pretty slow on the uptake right now, please excuse me. Kinolog & katjo74, thanks also, it sounds silly, but it means a  lot to have support from you all.  My hubby & the dogs are afraid that an over zealous dog could dislodge the implant, & I understand their concern, but I do need a furry hug! (& no, not from him!) Thanks everyone, I'm gonna take a nap, I'll check back in a little while, I can't sleep long, no comfortable position......jh
