i i wish to reply to true gsds and tillyflute re their comments re the germanic dogs at crufts.i was exhibiting at crufts and i was very pleased with my placing.how dare these two people insinuate that my animal and those of fellow exhibitors could not stand on their own.let me tell you my animal is sound in mind and body.all too often iwitnesss many alsatians...your description not mine, with windy temperament.i noticed one alsatian male with its tail tucked right underneath its body and its eyes darting here there and everywhere.doesnt the standard state ...steady of nerve ,never nervous aggressive nor shy then why is it that when i attend shows to watch and the judge is clearly english some of these animals appear shy and extremely nervous.i think that the english contingency came to crufts this year clearly just to make trouble cause the last time ishowed under mr.stanbra it was mostly exhibitors from the german side and a few middle of the road exhibitors.so come on you alsatianists keep to your own shows and let the rest of the uk and the world get on with showing the correct type.you keep on about the uk.standard.this is only a shortened version of the german sv.standard which is adhered to by the rest of the world.it is only in the uk and to some exttent the usa where there appears a different type.where in the standard is the word level used to describe the back oor backline/only in critiques done by the english side.idont believe that the breed should be split ulnless the sv agree with it.to split the breed in my opinion is givingthe english side exactly what they want.even these animals whether we like it or not.......ARE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOGS.
Well said perhaps they need to look closely at their own dogs, how many are even hip scored let alone anything else, even if the odd one is the sire/dam isn't, and yes extremely weak temperements, there is 3 near me 2 of these are from English showlines both frightened of their own shadow the other one is pet lines his temp is okay but way oversize at 50KG+
Thank you Noddi, well said. And for the old die hards, the 'Alsatian' is the German Shepherd Dog, and vice versa, unfortunately, a different name shouldnt mean a different dog.!
but unfortunately a different name does mean a different breed in this case if the breed cant be split then it stands to reason that the name alsation must be taken of our breed register and given just the one true and proper name GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG nothing more or less and then we can all set about breeding to th WUSV/SV standard and produce dogs of the true type bred for good health good temperament and type

Very good post Jim H
Mo - Mascani.
When comparing the SV/FCI GSD Breed Standard with the Kennel Club GSD Breed Standard, you see what the Kennel Club does NOT include in their GSD Breed Standard, the disqualifying faults relating to TEETH. The Alsatians are the 'clique' that have numerous champions with missing teeth, so guess which 'clique' was accomodated by these omissions?
The GSD Partnership must make every effort to have the Kennel Club adopt the SV/FCI GSD Breed Standard in FULL. They may be able to agree some additions, but never agree to any omissions.
only one is the gsd world club with rules and standarts that many don't like beacose the dogs they own CAN NOT bereed
I find it insulting to my dogs that the English side can continue to call their dogs German Shepherds then say that the International type, recognised in the home country of the breed and worldwide are incorrect. Even the English type supporters in the posts on this subject are ashamed to call their type "Alsatians". Did anyone notice that on the benches at Crufts the KC had miss-spelt the name? Is this a sign of change? What is a "German Shepherd Dog (Alsation)? If the breed is split and the English supporters are prevented from sneaking in the odd bit of German blood how long will the Alsatian last without falling foul of the new KC inbreeding rules. The Alsatian will be finished within 10 years.
What was the date the Alsation, again took the name of German Shepherd i think it was 1957 i stand to be corrected on that but it is so i believe, missed Crufts not being on television, it was a terrible shame,
although i am not into Showdogs i like the working line of the G.S dog world
i do admire the work and conditioning that goes into the show dog, it is not that easy and the animals look fantastic, kudos to the handlers and owners
