My 5 yr old male is currently being treated for Lymes and seems to be doing much better. But he still has difficulty getting up on the couch or bed, and has been bunny hopping (with difficulty) up the basement steps. I've seen a dog bunny hop when running, but going up steps? Before his bout with Lymes, he made it up and down the steps just fine. I did have his hips x-rayed a few months ago and they are fine. The vet commented on how good his hips looked for his age, as there were no signs of arthritus. So I guess I'm wondering why he is still having the mobility issues? I ordered some Ark Naturals joint rescue to see if that helps. Would appreciate any other suggestions. Thanks.

Isn't joint inflammation and joint pain symptomatic of Lyme?

Yes, Sue, it is. Try Adequan; it's excellent for Lyme's-induced joint pain.

I thought the joint issues would clear up as Trigger started feeling better. Poor boy. Hate to see him in pain.

He likely still has Lyme disease.  Treatment needs to be for much longer than most vets prescribe.  I would do 3-4 months of doxycycline.  Check back with your vet.

I was thinking I should bring Trigger back in for a follow up but didn't want to take advantage of the Vet's generosity as she has basically been treating Trigger for free. So thought I would ask a few opinions. I'll give her a call tomorrow as I am wondering also if he still might have Lymes. I got 28 days worth of pills and based on what I've been reading, that may not be enough. I appreciate the advice. Thanks so much.
