A very nice man I email with in Belgium just sent me an email about his dog have "a stitch" He was not refering to stitches (like stitch a wound), the context was "...and at one moment he started to stitch. My son and I tryed to save him, he was still sitting and alive. We called the vet....." obviously, my friend is going through a very hard time right now and I don't want to question him heavily. Anyone know what he meant? Seizures maybe? I'm lost.

It means what it says, The Dog has cut itself and has had to be stitched up with a gut and needle, It is not a seizure
The Dutch term or word for stitched is 'GENAAID'

My guess would be "choke". The Afrikaans translation for choke is "stik" - in context, "he choked" = "hy het verstik". Belgian being one of the roots of the Afrikaans language, this would be my translation...

The Belgian has told you the best he can in English and he has said Stitch
The Dutch word for Stitch or if you sew something up, is Genaaid, if he had said this word you would not have known what he was taliking about
You can take it the way he put it
The Dog has cut himself and required Stitches in the wound

Hard luck on the Dog but the words were not pronouced correctly, Stitch pronouced that way means in dutch excatly what i said above The word spelt STIK in Dutch does indeed mean to suffocate
