Hello. I have a 12 week old puppy from Germany. I think she may be experiencing some jet lag. She came in yesterday about 3 pm. We gotr her home and she ate quite a bit and drank like a horse. Hours later she thre a little up. Her Bowl movements are normal no runny stools. She ate quite a bit for a puppy her size, 3 cups. Again a couple hours later she threw a bit up. I may be feeding a little too much. I feed my 2 puppies, 12 week and 16 week old puppies about 3 cups each a day and they eat it before noon. My male has no problems. My new female is having teh issues. She is 35 pounds. Maybe I should cut a bit out? Any suggestions would be great

When I imported my pup the breeder told me to only give a little food at first because it would be hours they go without any and a large amount could cause digestive problems. Makes sense. To me it sounds like way to much food for a pup at one feeding. I feed 3 times a day when they are that age. Have you ever soaked 3 cups of dog food and seen how it expands? It is probably why she is vomiting. Try one cup 3 times a day.

I agree, you should also try feeding the same to your other young puppies.  3 cups at one time is a lot of food.  And all before noon.

My puppy did the same thing, he was so thursty and hungry.

He drank so much that he sloshed! Then he ate so much that he puked. I only let that happen once, then reduced his servings and fed more often. Once he got cought up, he was fine.

Are you feeding the same brand of food? This could also be a problem

Give her 1 cup at a time and wait a while inbetween meals like an hour.........See how she does, also sit on the floor and  feed her by hand. This will slow her down and you will bond more quickly.

Way too much food at one time for a little pup - divide it into three portions, young puppies should be fed three times a day. Three cups of food, especially dry food which expands when it hits the fluid in the stomach and digestive tract, would be quite a meal for an adult dog, imagine how stuffed and upset that little tummy must feel.........you are lucky all she did was throw up!

cut down and space the meals to 3 times a day. you're giving feasts now, not meals.

Don't let the pup drink a lot of water at once either. I give ice cubes so they can't ingest the water so fast. The stress of the climate change and the trip, and the fasting before the flight, knocks them off schedule a bit sometimes. In a day or two the pup ought ot be just fine.

I'd give her less food too.  That's a lot of food in one sitting for a small pup.

I like the ice cube idea too.  Try not to let her gulp a bunch of water in one sitting.  Small amounts frequently and she should start to adjust..

Yes I found out I was giving my pups way too much food. I now give them 2 cups 2 times a day. Once in the morning at 8 and then again at 5pm. This has solved the problem and now she is fine. Thanks for all that helped me with this. I am still learning

Same thing happens to me when I eat to much at one sitting. Very uncomfortable!
