The dangers of chocolate are well known, but I'd never heard of this product until today.

Good reminded for everyone Anja!

The cocoa mulch was quite popular a couple of years back....

A larger dog like the GSD can tolerate a very small amount of chocolate. I once saw a table of the amount a dog can tolerate. One lick on a spill is not going to affect it, I tend to think.

You are right HighDessert, a GSD can handle a small amount of chocolate.  And it's usually the dark baker's chocolate kind of thing that's the most dangerous.  When I was a kid, my sheltie used to steal Hershey's kisses and never got sick.

We did have a Labrador that ingested too much really dark chocolate and ended up dying from complications from it.  It was not pretty, he was a mess and they brought him in rather early, plus we were able to get to him vomit up some.

However, it's also a labrador that I could see going to town on cocoa mulch.
