Hello,
I am trying to come up with a practical way of creating something that can shade my crates and block my dogs from seeing out without blocking airflow. I wish my aluminum crates were magnetic so I could sew some magnets into pillowcases. I don't want anything that will rattle when I drive (I go to great length to make sure nothing rattles back there) and I want it to hold up to the breeze on windy days. I have been just using a full size sheet and draping it over both kennels together but I have to walk around all the doors several times to get it on the crates right and it blows off when I am driving. I know some of you out there have some nice setups for this. Let me know....

There are all kinds of sunblocking tarps that are sold at dog shows - some of the dog show suppliers are online, too "Cherrybrook" or "Rumbo" are a couple I have used in the past. There are reflective ones that allow airflow, some that block 80% of sunlight, yet allow airflow... you may even find something you can modify at Home Depot - we have a Sun Shade we bought there and made an awning for our dogs. Creates a shady spot, but lets air through...

How about velcro to hold sheets of some sort. You could cut the sheets down to "proper" crate size. Velcro on the crate, velcro on the sheets, voila!

I like the sun shade at Cheerybrook, they come in practical sizes to just fit over a crate. Now I am looking for short ball bungess so I can cinch these down in a jiff. The shortest ball bungee I have found is 6". The velcro is an alternative if I can't find something better.
