$5000. Suppose to be good for family. I don't want to make a purchase and later read on this forum something that would be negative or that I was a sucker or something. So I feel I must post this as I am not familiar with this breeder. I live in NJ and the breeder is in CA. The website is impressive as well as the photos of his dogs for sale. When I emailed the breeder about the price for the particular dog for sale I was not aware he was an import, and expected the price to be around $2500-$3000.
My wife would prefer a puppy but I thought an older puppy you would know what you are getting. Any comments would be appreciated. I had a GSD several years ago that lived for 13 yrs, however she was a bitch and from American Show Lines
pet quality $500.
Thanks

$5000, that dog better have health certifications and be titled.
He used to be in Texas before moving to Calif.

Have the dogs hips been prelimed? Any basic training at all? Guarantees with the dog?
In one sentence you say the dog is a showline but in another you mention East German import. There is a difference and that would probably matter as to what you are expecting out of the dog.

yes, young puppies are a crap shoot, but from a knowledgeable breeder, you have better odds of knowing what you are getting. someone with a good breeding program, who has been breeding for a while can pretty much tell you what to expect from one of their young pups.
older, already prelimbed pups will run you more $, but you know the hip status, you know if they have missing teeth ect.
but young puppies are soo much fun!

Thanks folks for your input. The prelims is a question I thought to as well. I wanted to know the price first before I began asking more questions. The pedigree is not shown on the site. Xero is the name of the dog on his website with photo and looked to me to be impressive.

I wouldn't see a young male with no titles or anything going for over $2000 unless it was just something really special. you can find them on here all day long that age for $1500euro.
