Just wondering. And by top I mean first three in a Schutzhund Nationals or an eqivalent competition.

I know of one person...I beleive Ivan Balabanov does not use electric. At least he didnt when I use to train at the same club he did here in California when he was titling and competing with his dog Django. Ivan does very well in competition too.

Ivan uses electric and has for the last 10 years that I have known him.

I've been to an Ivan seminar where he used the e-collar on the HANDLER, not the dog. No kidding! Sometimes the problem is at the human end of the leash. IMO - Ivan may use electric, but he's not someone that I picture trying to fry a dog into correctness. His goal, from what I've seen, is to build trust and understanding with his dogs, as well as respect. -Yvette

A couple top performers that I am not aware of them using electric... Debbie Zappia, T Floyd, and Jimmy Honda. Of course, I have to question the intent of the OP on this thread... what's your point? Some people use e-collar as a "virtual leash" and some people use e-collars in a stupid and misguided attempt to zap their dog into a correct performance. These are not one and the same!

Debbie and T definately use e-collar. T's dogs know "how to turn it off" for sure - watch their retrieves. He does use e-collar, and not always in a nice and gentle way. Results are obvious though, these guys know how to get a dog on the podium. Not sure if Jimmy Honda uses e-collar.
