MygsdRebel

I noticed a while ago my female had a small bump on her shoulder just under the skin. It's pretty hard, maybe a liittle bigger than a dime. Before it looked fine, I plan on bringing her to the vet to get it checked out within the month. Any idea what it is?
But now it looks like this:

I trimmed the hair around it:

I've cleaned it up a bit. It doesn't bother her at all unless I squeeze it pretty hard, then her skin just twitches for me to let go.

Thanks for any input,
Emily.

how old is this dog? it could be a number of things. a cyst, ingrown hair, an imbedded thorn, a mole or wart, a growth (most are non cancerous) has she been vacc. recently? sometimes they will get bumps after a shot and they can last weeks or longer.

She is about 20 months. She hasn't been vaccinated since I bought her when she was maybe.. 10 months or so. She's due for it, but I haven't gotten around to taking her. I was thinking cyst.. I doubt that it would be an imbedded thorn, it isn't red, and doesn't look sore, nor does she act like it is. Ingrown hair I would think the bump would be smaller. It's pretty round, but you can tell it isn't connected to anything.

Trigger had a few bumps like that last year. They were round and very hard. They we'ren't red or infected so didn't worry about them. The bumps disappeared after a few months. A few weeks ago Trigger was diagnosed with Lymes disease. Now I wonder if those bumpswere the deer ticks. The literature the vet gave me said the ticks inbed themselves in the dog's skin and are round and very hard. I would have your dog tested just to be safe.

My 8 year old had a lump on her tail last year it look very similar, turned out to be a sebatious cyst. Vet squeezed it and it burst but I wouldn't try that without having it checked.

I'd have your vet check it - sounds like a sebaceous cyst, but it's hard to tell from a photo.

My 5 year old dog had a sebaceous cyst that looked like that. They are harmless. But you should take your dog to the vet, as you plan to, because it is remotely possible that it could be something else like an abnormal growth or something embedded. The vet can find out exactly what it is, deal with it, and your mind will be easier.

My Mischa has one that has been there a long time, she doesnt act like it bothers her unless I mess with it, she also has one on her back foot, actually looks like an extra pad has come up altho it isnt, now if I touch that one she will let me know about it for sure! I need to take her in and have it checked as soon as I have time, vets hours are the same as mine lol
