EMTTGT06

Hello all!  I picked up my new girl today at the airport and she is fabulous!  While clearing her through customs (which was a freakin nightmare) they said she has to be confined until seen by a vet within 30 days.  I asked where to send the info and papers to, they said once it was entered into the computer Customs could check on her status?  I called my vet and am going in the morning, however they have no idea what to do other than a general exam and have no clue what the guy was meaning by info entered into computer.  Any ideas?  Thank you.

I have never heard of that.  When I import they ask if I will use the dog for breeding and I tell them YES.
Have they changed anything?  Maybe you should call customs.

I gues I'll have to.  They said I have 30 days and if I don't comply they can fine me up to $250,000.  This was coming from MSP airport in Minnesota.

Never mind!  Just found out that all imported dogs must be vaccinated against rabies within 30 days according to Customs.  I don't know why that would've been so hard for the jerk to tell me yesterday, however that whole ordeal is a story all of its own.  Thanks

The dog must be in your possession and confined until it has had a rabies vaccination. How old is the pup? If it is very young, you will not be vaccinating it for rabies during this time and you must continue to keep the dog in your possession and confined until it is old enough to be vaccinated. In other words, you cannot sell it, take it places, have it around other dogs etc.

That is what this was all about. Nothing more. It is for your protection, the pups, and yes, the dogs and others who might come in contact with the pup otherwise.
