I do not think they will pass....sorry.

The joint on the right side of the screen (which should be the left hip) is not good  There appears to be a lot of joint space and laxity, not good coverage in the socket.  The joint also appears to be a bit misshapen, however some of that may be positioning.

Should I have the x-rays re-done, because of postion or would it make a difference?

Thanks for all your input...

Did the vet manipulate the dog's hips? Did the dog react with a whimper? If so its a bad sign.

How old is this dog?

by Willy on 02 February 2009 - 02:02

He is 27 months old, and I drop off and come back 5hours later. He was knocked out. So he should of not wimpered. He shows no signs of any type of discomfort.

Humm..theyre is already a litlle remodelation of the femoral heads..they are about 50% in...not that i'm an expert but I would say maybe bordeline to mild..

What about sisters and brothers..Dam, Sir and others close ancestors..do you know about them cause sometime it can change things..If all the others in the litters are graded good to excellent then you maybe could use it on a female with good genetic hip scores on her side..

But if you only know about him..than it's not good enough to use in a breeding program IMHO..

Both parents are OFA good and grand-parents. 2 other males from the same litter was rated good and the breeder kept a female from the same litter and she was rated excellent.

I also don't think they will pass.  But, if this dog is not to be used for breeding(should not be used for breeding unless the hips are passing)- there is no reason he won't be comfortable and sound for his lifetime, if his jumping and exercise is moderated.  I dont' think the hips are 'crippling'.

Positioning and exposure are pretty good.  I don't think you need them to be re-taken.  I also do not think they will pass that femoral head on the left hip is pretty flat!
