That's very unfortunate and my heart goes out to his handler and no doubt best friend.

So sad for all.  Condolences to his handler.

Man that really sucks!  I feel really bad for the handler and that dept.  A survey was done recently, 39 states were counted and we lost about 130 K9's in 2008.  That is truly a shame, my condolonces to that handler.

130 k9s killed?! That is a stunning total. My condolences to the handler. This must be heart-wrenching.

Yup, that's a lot of K9's and 20% of the states weren't included.  Those dogs saved a lot of lives.  We lost almost the same number of Police Officers in 2008, 140.

140, Ouch.  Many of us do appreciate what LEO's do for us.  Thank you.

Washington State has a special license plate available to help fund the Law Enforcement Memorial (LEM).

Is the memorial for the dogs, too? If not, is ther one for the K9s?

It does not appear LEM is for both people and dogs.  I think there should be both.

Memorials are nice but I give money to a fund for K-9 health care and vests etc.  It is run by the local Humane Society.
