Can't believe this place! - Page 1

I have been out here for a few weeks looking for the right dog for myself and the family.. I have never found a place so full of crap in my life. Sorry for coming on strong but I have had people try and sell me dogs that they do not even own..

How can anyone be so cruel? How can you justify the actions! One person selling the dog for $10.000.00 and the original owner selling the dog for $3500..00 whats the deal people? We all want to make an extra buck but geezer's get a grip. To make a profit of $6500..00 on someone else's time is just off the wall insane..

Oh and then you get people sending your emails to other people.. Do you not know what confidentiality is?

Oh then you have the ones that state they can certify the world!

Oh and then we have take my training course and I can have you and the dog certified in 3 weeks.

Costs attached to $20.000.00

Can we ever get back to reality? Can we ever learn to become honest? All I wanted was to buy a dang DOG!

What lines for what job?

Why don't you expose the slimey  unprincipled cheat.

You are now on a bulletin board, a forum.

We have all heard stories like you are telling and this is a good place to turn them in.

That may save some other person from becomiing a  future victim.

Many people come hear and search the message board to see if there is any information on a particular broker or breeder.

I for one am a pet home who does participate in club level schutzhund.  There are all kinds of people on this board who did not harm you in any way.

I am looking for working lines prefer a green dog but should be pri-limbed and registered.

As to bringing up names I was informed if I do I can be sued. So I will do the next best thing. Put a warning up!

The one individual advertised the dog as fully trained and certified. Come to find out the dog had no certifications what so ever and had bitten someone for no just reason. Had I not followed my gutt I would have purchased someone elses problems.

I have small kids here and need a well bred dog not a time bomb looking to pop at any time.

It's good to hear you're doing your research. And if you've been cruising around here for several weeks I'm sure you've read enough posts to reinforce why you need to do lots of research. I don't believe the type of behaviour you're describing is limited to those trying to sell GSD puppies on this site. Unscrupulous sales practices have become a part of the world we live in.

Many people that use this forum are honest people who never hesitate to help when they can. People may have had different experiences, conflicting opinions and different training methods but all-in-all most people are genuinely trying to help. As with anything it is up to all of us to decide what advice we choose to follow and what advice we disregard. All of us love our dogs and want the best for them, and most of us want what's best for the breed as a whole. Whether we agree on what that is exactly, is another matter.

This is a community, and with any community there is always one or two neighbours you wish would move elsewhere. So while you may have to weed through some pretty useless posts here occassionally ,and may have to deal with trolls occassionally, I think labelling the whole site as "full of crap" is a bit of a sweeping generalization.

You cannot be sued for stating facts. Green dog shouldn't be too hard to find, male female? Color pref, what you will be using the dog for? I don't have any dogs to sell, just curious as to why your having a hard time.

I want a dog that can be trained in service work. It must be kind gentle but yet willing to get the job done

YOU  CAN POST , the truth in fact only.. with names and dates...cannot bring a suit on you for slander...truth is not slander...

Public forums have pros and cons...we all want good names and take pride in what we do.

Contact several from here and do your research.

Some breeders will not sell just anyone their dogs.  You must be aware of that , also..

It can't be libel if you believe it is true and you didn't say it with malice.

Slander is spoken, libel written.  Anything here would come under libel law, which is a crime that is almost impossible to prove since 1964 (Sullivan v NYTimes). 

The truth is never illegal, as 4pack says.

Libel requires a lot -- you have to lie intentionally AND with malice.  You have to do it publicly, intending to harm, and you have to have done harm.  All this has to be proven -- and more!

You can pretty much mention the name of someone who offered you overpriced dogs and services and not worry at all about being sued.
