Good news for the GSD for a nice change.... seems things are beginning to come together thanks to forward and careful thinking to incorporate both exhibitors and working enthusiasts. South Cheshire Schutzhund branch of B.A.G.S.D. has a new Chairman – Mark Tyson. Mark is very keen to get the GSD people working as one, and so are the very helpful folk who do our training at this club. Whilst training up there yesterday, it was suggested during an informal meeting that this branch put on an event for people wishing to gain their Koerung in the U.K. – but under an S.V. judge brought over to officiate. Therefore, this makes it more manageable for any of us that have animals qualified Sch.H. 1 – who need a Koerung, or Leibenzeit. It will be recognised then by the S.V. – and will be an alternative to sending your dog to Germany to get the qualification. The suggested date for this event is end of April / beginning of May – and of course, numbers will have to be limited as the judge can only do a certain number each day – it is hoped that it would be held over Saturday and Sunday if there is enough interest.
There will also be opportunity for interested parties to come and take training/practice days beforehand on Saturdays at the South Cheshire Sch.h. training venue – which is at Hough, Cheshire. We need to be able to gain a little idea of people who would be interested in this event, and have dogs that would benefit – so if anyone out there sees an opportunity for some serious UK based work – leading to an SV qualification gained in the UK – would you please let me know so that I can collate figures loosely, and give the committee an idea of the support or otherwise, to enable plans to be made. Many thanks
Mo - Mascani

Fabulous news! It's great to know that there are forward thinking people out there!

This is great news, just make sure that all interested parties are actually eligible to take their koerung, ie have SV a stamp hips and elbows, SV Dna taken, minimum schh1, AD, show grade minimum G under SV judge.
Wouldnt it be great if we could have 2 or 3 of these events per year plus of course AD events.

It would be great. What are the chances of all interested countries agreeing a hip score acceptance level with the SV? It's counter productive when everything costs an arm and a leg... twice! Has this ever been discussed / tried?

Thanks for that Carol, can I put it into the breed notes in the form that you have written it here?
and also thanks for your support MissBeeb - but you scared me when you want Countires to agree !!! - I do agree with your point, and it would be great, but lets start with maneagable and build up first, ha ha

LOL Mo, they need more women, that's all.

by CAROL on 12 January 2009 - 15:01
Yes no problem Mo. It's just not everyone understands all the requirements before you can take koerung, also note that the dog must be a minimum of aged 2 within the year it takes koerung.

Hi Carol,
Thanks for that. I have taken everything on board - and will put it in the breed notes next week - already have had some good interest. Cheers Mo

Mo
I applaud the thought and idea BUT lets look at the practicality
The event is 3 months away
MINIMUM criteria for entry
2 YEARS OLD
HIP TESTED (SV) SYSTEM
ELBOWS TESTED (SV) SYSTEM
DNA TESTED (NOT SURE WHICH SYSTEM)
RECORD BOOK WITH AD
SAME WITH BH
AND MIN SCH1
Both of these have to be under a registered SV/WUSV domestic judge
AND THE DOG AND HANDLER MUST BE ABLE TO DO THE WORK TEST OF THE KOERUNG
DOES ANYONE AWARE OF ANY COMBINATION THAT CAN DO THAT IN 3 MONTHS!
JUST A QUESTION NOT A CRITISICM

Morning Reason! I would think that there are a few well on the way... because they now show or wish to show their dogs overseas.
