I am having a tough time feeding lactol to my 12 puppies who are 8 days old. I have read many times and in many places where breeders give evapourated milk with equal portion of water with KARO syrup and egg york. What is KARO syrup, i could never find it in the market.

It's just a veeeery thick syrup. Unlike some of the other US brands that are very watery, if you pour Karo on hotcakes, it won't move:) Other syrups run all over the plate. They say Karo just because it is so thick. You might have problems finding it if you aren't in the South. Just try to find a thick maple syrup, and that will work w/ your formula

I just read my bottle and it is produced by Best Foods in New Jersey. So it's not a South thing. Their website is: www.karosyrup.com You might be able to find out where you can get it, or if they sell it where you live from their site.

Karo is a brand name. It's actually corn syrup, and is more commonly marketed as [Brand Name] Corn Syrup. The most popular brand here in Canada is Beehive Corn Syrup.

Yes, it is the brand name for their syrups...Corn syrup and Maple. I've been eating the maple in the green bottle all my life. It is super thick and good. The clear bottles are the corn and the maple is brown, of course.

be sure to get the LIGHT form of Karo for the puppies. There is a dark form, as well. It's usually used for things like pecan pie, other baked goods and pancakes. . It is, or has been, identified with the South, because it is such a staple of soul food and Southern cooking. ( I grew up hating pancakes, because Karo syrup was what my family used on pancakes. YUCK!! I was 17 before I had some Mrs. Butterworth's at a friend's house and found out pancakes could taste good. )
I am not sure where you are located, but you will be able to find Karo in whatever part of town in your city has a large Black population. Some store in that area will undoubtedly carry Karo syrups.

No problems finding it anywhere in California. I had to buy it to add to my daughters baby formula years ago. You should find it in the baking isle.

Yes, I forgot that it was also used for baby formulas many years ago.
Crazydog,
If you are not located in the US or Canada, let me know. I would be happy to send you some of the stuff. I might even get nostalgic about holding a bottle of it.

No problems finding Karo in my White neighborhood stores. It's all over here.

Just look in the section where the pancake syrup is located in your grocery store. It should be available just about anywhere. Even Walmart carries it.....
