For clarification and because I refuse to be branded a liar, particularly by a dullard and a couple of people with insufficient integrity to admit that they got it wrong!

Breeders in the UK have imported countless Germanic dogs over countless years. Our situation is not perfect by any means, but we are not in a vacuum. Even when our questionable quarantine laws were still in force, many determined breeders imported good dogs from Germany and other countries and many bitches were sent overseas for mating.

My parents last Shepherd, (born in 1950) was a Gr Grandson of Voss v Bern and all German breeding, thanks to Brittas (Mrs Barrington). Most German Shepherds in the UK are of the Germanic type, but there are still quite a few (%?) “English / UK” types out there.

I am embarrassed… I’m embarrassed that I hail from the same country as the dullard, with scant knowledge or experience, that wants to split our breed, because he, thinks it’s a good idea! No clarification of why it’s a good idea, but it apparently is… fortunately, the vast majority are too wise to fall for such drivel.

Australia was banned for many years from importing Shepherds, I reiterate, I think it may have done them a favour, albeit unwittingly, for they had the time to “look see” and get their priorities right.

AI… used by quite a few, the SV may not like it, or allow the practice of it in Germany, but there have always been good German dogs that did not reside in Germany… this can’t be news, can it?

Well said Missbeeb, and of course as usual said politely, truthfully and with manners, all of which cost nothing. There are not too many other Brits on here supporting any split, so that alone speaks volumes. liz

Not too many full stop, Liz!

The problem missbeeb is that there already is an unofficial split within the breed  - Germanic vs English.

Most of those with germanic types will not show under English type judges and vice versa. I personlly would not like to see any split because at the end of the day no matter what shape, coat or colour your dog is, it is a German Shepherd Dog!!!!!!.

So what would be next and how many times would they split the breed after that.

GGSD - Germanic German Shepherd Dog.

EGSD - English German Shepherd Dog.

BGSD - Black German Shepherd Dog.

MoTRGSD - Middle of The Road German Shepherd Dog.

SDTATOToGSD (BSWTS) - Slightly Different  Than All The Other Types German Shepherd Dog (But Still Within The Standard).

The list goes on.

Yes, the list does go on.  With a little (?) effort, it could be mended... a little, I think / hope!

If we have any joy with the KC this time round, it'll be a good start don't you think?
